Nurburgring Nordschleife Falls To The Mighty 911 Gt2 In 7:32

"o Nissan got to enjoy a brief stint in the sun ahead of the 911 Turbo, only to have their 7:38 time in the new GT-R cast aside by the all new Porsche 911 GT2. It's only a matter of time before Nissan debuts their V-Spec, but for now the GT2 has the bragging rights."

Hopefully The V.Spec can Pull something out of the Bag.

and around and around and around we go

Nissan will probably focus on the V spec now and slash another 6 seconds off the clock.......then Porsche will go and bring out a special stripped out version of GT2 and shave another few seconds off that.....and then V spec 2 will beat the uber GT2 and the fight goes on.

I hope so , that sounds sweet

A stripped out GT2??? have you seen a GT2? there's hardly anything in there to begin with

I was under the impression GT2 still had some stuff left in there

I only remember the GT3 being so bare that it would make a stripper blush.

I'm don't know porsches that well so I could be completely off the mark here

gotta compare apples with apples. It's GTR vs 911 Turbo (or even a base 911 really) and GTR V-Spec vs GT2/3, etc...

the GT2 had already recorded a quicker time around the Ring a while ago, they've just gone around again for shits and giggles. Porsche had already posted a GT2 time before the GTR went around.

Who cares really, the luxo GTR is a few seconds off in full trim on a damp track, with a $220-$250k V-Spec version to come which will smack the worried grin off Porsche's faces again

and Porsche would not give a shit about not selling their GT2's as quick as Nissan's GTR... Porsche aren't trying to knock off Toyota in sales volume stakes

You are thinking about the GT3 RS, which comes with a rollcage as an option.

Damn, was it Walter Rorhl that did that 7.32 in the GT2?

Nissan still has the advantage, I'm sure the "average" driver would be faster in a GTR (V-spec or not) than the GT2 - plus its much cheaper. By a lot.

Nissan never went out to bench mark the R35 GTR against the GT2. It was always a comparison between the 911 turbo and the GTR.

Having said that, I wonder how the R35 GTR in GT2 spec (RWD, less luxuries, less weight etc) would fare. Not that Nissan will ever do this as their AWD is a massive advantage.

RWD in stripped out spec....I like that.

ive always said, i wanted the V-spec to be a RWD version with both manual and twin clutch auto options, with the RWD will change the weight distribution, meaning gear box mounted back so far isnt needed, hence it can run up to the engine, hence the possibility of a manual option :)

It will never happen as AWD makes the GTR faster around corners and off the line. I don't know how the GT2/3 manages to achieve such good cornering ability and yet be quicker.

What's the weight difference between the GT2 and 911 turbo? (can't be bothered looking it up :) )

The fact that the gearbox is mounted in the rear has nothing to do with the lack of a manual option.

As mentioned a lot of times in other threads, other cars have rear mounted manual transaxles such as the Corvette's from the C4 on.

    • Hi. a little later but if the topic is here. So...the exhaust is the same and you can use 25/Turbo or any aftermarket? What about intake side? Is it too "plug n play" or? (i do not remember for 100% but i think that one intake to head gasket was little bit different than on the RB25 - i bought gasket kit way back) I know that even if it "plug" those butterfly swirls would cause ECU to be confused or?   Just asking for the info 🙂 and of course the RB25 things are easier to come by

    • Hi everyone, I’m Dave from Canberra. Here's a few pics of my 1992 R32 GTST coupe which I imported back in 2006. Only mods so far are HKS Hi-power cat back exhaust, K&N filter, ATC Volanti steering wheel, Pioneer stereo, amp and sub. This was my daily driver up until 2015 and sadly hasn’t been driven at all in the last 5 years due to marriage, work, and kids taking up most of my time and spare cash.As such its in need of a bit of TLC and one of my goals for this year is to get it back to running condition and maybe look into club/historic rego. I’ve joined SAU so I can ask a few questions along the way (although I promise to google Current Problem +SAU beforehand!)
