Hi all,

I decided to buy the Apexi power intake pod filter which set me back $180.00 for the complete kit which I thought was reasonable and then installed it on the weekend which was a breeze to do as most of you would already know.

What I would like to know from you other people out there is that for those of you that have fitted one of these pods, did you notice a slight decrease in power apart from the induction noise you get. I also know that your supposed to box the pod up to stop it from drawing hot air which I haven't done but is it maybe because it needs to be tuned for this type of filter?

Will it make it run richer as well?

Thanks guys,

Gianni

I got an Apexi pod and it seemed to offer slightly less power than when I had my friend's borrowed HKS pod on. But that was because of all the extra hot air it sucked in (the HKS pod kind of faces forwards and suchs in more air from the front) because once I put the cold air box in, it had more power than the HKS.

$180 is a good price. I got mine from Japan for less than that, but I kind of *cough*avoided*cough* customs.

The car doesn't need to be tuned for the pod/box, and it shouldn't run any richer than normal. Not enough to require tuning anyway, but an S-AFC or the like always helps.

Hi JimX,

thanks for your info, I'm thinking of getting a Power FC down the track for extra tuning ability but money is always a problem as most of you will agree on that one!

One thing I would really like to know is having the Apexi pod on rather than the standard air box, will you gain anymore power?

I'm thinking I should have gotten a dyno done before & after to see what the results would have been!

I was a bit curious myself.. and had to take off my Blitz pod for an EPA. When I put the stock air box I noticed marketed less response and total power than with my pod with same 10psi boost, although my S-AFC, etc was not tuned for the box.

...mind you this was with unknown filter, so the results could vary

Thanks to all the reply's,

I think that down the track when I decide to do a bit more tuning like boost & power fc, the pod will pay off... hopefully. I'm just deciding weather I should leave it on for now? will I be using any more fuel with it on and no S-AFC or power fc? I'm sure someone did mention that putting a pod filter on will make it run richer...

who knows?

Thanks again guys....

How would it make your car run richer? If anything I would have thought that better airflow=leaner running, but either way the AFM works out how much air is coming in and adjusts the mixture accordingly.

Well, my car has a bit of a fuel problem anyway, but after fitting the pod I lost around 20K's. 30L gets me around 230k's.

The most obvious difference is the noise factor. You can actually hear the standard bov

I couldn't tell you if it has made it any faster, but it feels like it comes on boost faster. Not a huge difference but a noticeable difference.

I don't have any stats to prove, but i believe i felt a difference.
