at low boost the factory intercooler is able to flow very well and has very short pipe lengths to the motor etc. as such the engine response is superior to a large front mount with the extra pipe work.

It may be possible to size a better flowing core on a front mount and produce slightly better performance with the factory turbo given the pipe lengths are kept as short as possible.
