Guys/Girls,

I have recently bought a Arias Piston Kit but I have received a called from the workshop stating that one piston is different to the other 5.

Apparantly that piston is exactly the same size as the rest, just has a lip or something at the edge.

The workshop says that they can still install it but they want the go-ahead from me.

Is this correct or am I meant to take it back to where I bought it from and get another kit?

Danny

That I'm not too sure about..

They're not opened until 2nd of Jan (Wed) so I gotta wait until then.

All I know is that the bores are all the same, only problem is that one has a lip or something around it..

I wouldn't use a suss piston , it will cost you heaps to fix later .

dalostcambo, whats the piston to bore clearance ? I think Arias specify 4thou, a little to rattly and blowby for a road car but good for a track car.

Adriano, different weight piston will not effect any of the above unless the piston was different size, different weight pistons will unbalance the motor though, I may say that they are almost always different weights ( only by a small fraction, mostly unnder one gram) this is why you weigh the pistons and the rods, then use a heavier rod with a lighter piston to balance . Its best to balance them all with the crank, flywheel and cluth on a high reving engine.

Ahh... Went down to the workshop yesterday, it was the second ring without a groove on the lip (so confusing over the phone)..

Thanks for the help!

Took the ring back and got it swapped over for another.

Can't wait to get the beast back now! =D

yeah there seems to be a period when arias upgraded the rings, it must have snuck through some how.

no offence mate, but if your engine builder was going to put 1 wrong ring in I think you should take it somewhere else.....

Ring was EXACTLY the same as the others, just didn't have the groove at the edge of the ring.

This is why they called me, to see if they have the okay to go ahead with it or wait..
