i filled our car yesterday to the first click of the pump and headed out for a drive . i was 40 deg in adelaide yesterday and we had been driving for about a hr and was heading home when i could smell fuel vapours in the cab of the car.

car also seemed to be running really rich as well when i got it home i undid the fuel cap and there was so much pressure in the tank it actually blew the cap out of my hand and the vapour that was comming out of the tank was very hot .

i come to the conclusion that the pressure in the tank must have been forcing more fuel thru the injectors under so much pressure hence the running rich and fuel smell. also the petrol gauge was reading wrong when driving but when i realeased the cap it went back to where it should be reading.

so im guessing the fuel cap is not venting properly and not realsing pressure like it should be . anyone else struck this prob b4

cheers dean

The tank should only really pressurize when stand still. The fact yours is, while running is an issue.

Punch that SAU search button like a naughty 9 year old, for the in / out / trigger layout, check to make sure your charcoal cannister is doing its job.
