here's as good a place any other to post up your pics.

Well here we go... Just spent 15 grand on mods 8 months ago... Truck turned across my path from the other side of the road.... Locked up for 25meters and it was all over. The toolbox bolted to the bottom of the truckies trailer stopped the car from fully going under the trailer and ripping the roof off the car... Saved my life. Just shows shit can happen in a split second and it can be all over. I reckon i was doing about 15km/s over the speed limit and i think if i was actually doing the proper speed i probably would have stopped in time. Learnt a f**king good lession thats for sure... :D

That is such a sad sight. Luckily ur all alright. How long ago was this? You've been givin the all clear from being the cause of accident? A dude i used to work with, same thing happened, he had to fork out for it cus he was found speeding. "It would have never happened if he wasn't speeding" the trucking company argued.

If the traffic matter is still unresolved with police and insurance company it is probably not a good idea to post up any comments like your speed. It would be very difficult for any crash investigator to determine that you were 15km over unless you told them. Bein 15km over probably means the liabilitiy will be spread between the truck driver and yourself and insurance companies have a habit over not paying out if you are breaking the law.

Good luck with the new purchase and insurance claim. If you just spent $15k on mods in might be worth asking the insuance company if you can buy the wreck so you can extract the parts for your new car.

Global research over many years by meself has confirmed that people involved in accidents are not taking readings of worry gauges immediately prior to or at time of accidents, likewise nine out of ten accidents are unplanned & not the fault of the Nissan driver. Following on from that valuable research project my current extensive research reveals that insurance companies will latch on (like mud crabs) to any point that will assist in denying a righteous claim even if it is their own Grandmother making said claim, therefore it is very bad kharma to speculate. Best edit these posts referring to speculative elements of this incident :P & best of luck with your claim mate.

A crash does more than physical damage, it also creates mental and emotional damage.

When I crashed my Honda Accord last year, the car was mangled real bad and I was throwing up blood due to internal injuries - without going into the graphics too much; I think obey the speed limit and arrive safely. Speed limits are there after scientists, engineers and specialist consultants have done their calculations and research to show which applicable speed limit is most suitable for certain areas - they should be obeyed and taken lightly.

I know I learned the hard way, cost me a fortune and nearly my marriage.

I think seeing a wreck really brings it home and gives you a graphical warning on the consequences of speeding. A car can do wondrous things, but if not used properly, it can become a lethal weapon to kill.

Insurance company paid agreed value on the car. Very lucky with that one but Just car insurance seems not to be too bad because i listed all the modifications.$2000 premium plus excesses kinda killed it though. Im just lucky it wasnt a family with kids in the car.... But i probably wouldnt have hit them because a car in the middle of the road is alot easier to avoid then a truck and trailer going ten 10k's. But yeah no excuses I have alot more respect for cars. I lost half my confidence or probably arrogance and it was probably a good thing all i got was really bad whiplash atleast nobody died.... From now on il save the speed for the drags with my new r33... Was able to salvage the bottom end just not the head and turbo.... Start rebuilding soon. :(

i know i wasn't looking at the gagues (not that i was moving anyway), i was looking in the rear vision mirror watching a commodore skidding towards me at quite some speed...

Yeh mate, thanks for asking, :) Very very lucky (to quote perpetrators' insurance co), was cut out of her car & lifted through roof opening, mobile now, fightin fit she thinks, in caged tiger mode quite often, over it bigtime, ready for work but back injury taking a while to mend. Next car is gunna be a Hummer if she has her way.

    • Right, its been a while for updating this car, but I made some small but important progress today. In the end I bought an Ecutek dongle from the Australian distributor Tunehouse (for local hardware support) but have gone with a remote tune from Racebox in the US (because they have done millions of these, and I could not find any tuner where I could access the tune anyway as they are all password locked). The App is reasonably easy to work with, but the PC software reminds me of Haltech's ECU Manager that you need to use with the Plat Pro ECUs, it is a nightmare.  Anyway, I sent the details over, got back a tune file and a request for data logs. I finally got a chance to access a private test track today as they want redline logs in 3rd and 4th, and have sent them back for the first round of reviews. The main difference in the tune is going from 1.0 (stock) to 1.3 bar (19psi), although I'm sure is a lot of other stuff in the background. Keeping in mind this is a dead stock car with 125,000klm, this is what the App's performance test claimed: Before After Interesting to note that both 400m tests had the same terminal speed (158klm/h) but different ETs. And no, the speed limiter seems to be higher than that at 186kl/h. Summary of the key logged parameters for the 3rd and 4th gear runs were: Those little turbos were certainly whizzing at 200,000rpm+.  Also I'm really not that excited about oil pressure 55psi at redline so I think I'll go thicker than 5w30 (nissan recommend 0w20....) and see if that improves it. Other than that (and the big boost spike....) everything looks good as a start to me.
    • Just one more post to show the final result and the original "janky" solution for a laugh. Everything feels really tight and no wobbling at all, very pleased 🙂
