was under my car yesterday , and found this hanging from the top of my gearbox, not connected to anything. I assume it is part of the hicas tubing as mine has been removed from the car ,the two hoses were connected to the top of the gearbox

gear box breather lines. they are supposed to be on there with nothing on the end of the steel "U" tube section.

i couldnt find where it bolts onto so u just cut the hoses half way , im sure it wont hurt will it?

nah, wont hurt it, you may get a little bit of g/box oil come out there from time to time. with them longer and sitting up higher the oil cant get out. they usually finish up near the top of the gearbox bell housing.

that bracket should go through the top bellhousing bolt so it is nice and high

not really...but its meant to let fluid that boils up cool and then drain back in. Would be a good idea to get a replacement and install it properly if you can.

does it use a seperate nut or one on the existing bell housing?

goes on the highest bolt on the drivers side. it has a little bend in the bracket, that locates it onto the flat part at top of the bellhousing.

can almost see where it goes.. probably 14mm socket

yea i see, is it a bolt that goes through the bell housing or is it just a seperate bolt especially for the bracket?

yeah the 14mm bolt that goes through the bellhousing and motor, it is above the starter motor. easiest way to get at it is to lower the rear of the gearbox (loosen off the gearbox cross member), use 4x 1" extensions along the top of the gearbox right to the rear of it.
