Hi guys,

long story short, when driving my car and turning steering wheel to the left by only like 1-2 degree, i can hear the noise coming from the front (most likely driver side) very hard to tell what the noise like.. (sound like moving part touch something, very small noise but get lounder when drive faster). when car stop, turning steering wheel, no noise and checked everything, nothing touching....

Any ideas?

cheers

I have this on my R34 but its on the passanger side! happens when I move the wheel slighty to the left there starts a squeek from the footwell area or it couuld be the glovebox area whrn i straighten up the wheel it stops. Interestingly this doesnt happen if the AC/heater is turned off

thanks for sharing the info guys

if it cause by power steering fluid, why only happen/making noise while the car moving and turning left!! it should happen all the time, shouldn't it?

edited: just went to my car, checked all the wheel nuts, all good. then, checked power steering fluid, all good

any other idea guys?

  • 2 weeks later...

went to another inspection.. seem the front wheel bearings are fine.. then..

what we found .. the steering rack is leaking, and the tie rod end (ball joint at the end of the rack) has a cracked boot which has caused it to dry out.. so, is this can cause the noise while turning? any idea?

how to fix this problem? do i need to get this rack rebuilt? or any after market rack out there? how about the tie rod end?

cheers

if it was wheel bearings you would hear metal scarping againts each other all the time driveing, which on of the balls must be cracked or hole thing gone from experience just spent $370 to get it all done both front wheel bearings compressed out and in lol and had to get hub changed as well as rode like that for 3 months lol, but befor i did that i got it checked out by power steering specialist and he told me that rattleing noise while turning could be ur CV joints, but this will only happen when turning hard or just a little, then you would have to get ur power steering recoed i dont know price as i didint get to ask lol but goto any specialist and get them to check it out and give an assesment on price and get back so i know how much it will be too lol just incase
