fark, thats a pretty damning comment.

I always thought Cromly was oright.

Good blokes or not, their ability to commentate F1 leaves a lot to be desired. I've heard more intelligent things out of Murray Walker and would rather just have the ITV commentary.

Im gonna cop a flaming from Dezz, et al, but im really enjoying this year for a number of reasons, not least of all being hamiltons ability to dial a car in without the supposed help from a WDC in Gizmo.

f**k Gonzo - Hammo doesnt need him...and thats farkin obvious.

I LOL every time i hear the Hammo bashers - "Hammo cant dial in a car, Hammo cant drive for shit, Hammo cant overtake..."

...and then when he does all those things the bloody wankers that bash him already have another excuse lined up.

He'll take the WDC and STILL people will say "Homo was lucky...Homo still cant drive for shit even though hes WDC, Homo getting the WDC is a conspiracy"

IM going to be LOFL when he does it this year.

Hammo will do it this year - hes focussed, serious and pushing hard and its take an idiot to doubt the Macs reliability.

Not withstanding his f**k up in Canada and the flop in France, hes been slapping smug grins off faces every race and the turning point of the WDC this season was the beating he dished out to everyone in England.

I love the way Hamilton drives...Hes a damn good all round driver plus the team loves him.

Raikonnen looks like hes dropped his load over all this retirement bullshit and Massas too inconsistent.

That leaves Heikki, who for one, will be happy to help the team if he needed to.

Who else could do it this year, realistically?

i think you'll find that any info he got for free of Alonso last year was extremly helpful to his cause... last year

the fact that he already has this info for the following year as a basline for almost every track has eased his learning curve somewhat

But come on, Alosno setup or not, McLaren and its engieners have been around for years and would have the car semi sorted before it turns a wheel, Now that Lewis has a season and a halef under his belt in the car, longer workign with his engineers, you would expect him to be able to set up a McLaren without too much difficulty. The McLaren does not appear to be a fickle car.

The highlight of the race will be watching Nick come through the field, and fingers crossed Kimi has recovered from his Friday night at the strippers :ermm:

Hungarian Porn stars...

Seriously, the haterz have always commented that LH was riding FA for setup.

FA is gone.

LH is on pole 4 2008.

Thats it.

The data from last year is vague and unusable at best - track temps, tyre compounds, fuel loads, surface conditions, mechanical grip, aero changes and every other freaking thing i can think of will see to that.

LH has done this on the strength of his skills, his ability to set the car up without a WDC spoon feeding him and ofcourse the Mac knowledge.

Give credit where credit is due.

LH is mega.

Adam, by your ruling Hamilton does have what you call "haters". Hamo also has his fan boys like yourself that are so one eyed you cant accept the likelihood that Lewis did get helped by Alonso!

Claiming that Lewis didnt get car setup advice and help from Alonso is pretty ignorant! :ermm: He had a season of testing with McLaren, probably had more testing then Alonso as the start of the 2007 season, but he had not driven many of the tracks, had never really raced an F1 car wheel to wheel with other cars over a race distance so had less of an idea how to get good dirvability over the life of its tyres. Something he still struggles with to this day. His F1 experience was testing, tyres, aero comaprisons etc. Not dialling a car in to the conditions.

Also claiming last years data is useless???? You cant be serious! They know the difference between last years car (tyres/aero etc) and pace at bunch of races from this year. A teams engineers ability to read and interpret data is make or break for the team! Do you think they go to a race with a car not factory set for the track based on last years data and testing/race data from this years car?

You need a good relationship with your engineers, experience of what you like to get the most out of the car and the tyres, something that comes with experience. He didnt have much experience so its logical and has been stated in the media that he was receiving setup hlep from the other car in the garage. He now has well over a season of racing experience under his belt so you would expect that he is able to do a good job.

Not recognising that there would have been an experience/transition period where he would have been relying on external input for setup to having the ability / confidence TO taking responsibility for setup is daft. You would hope that Lewis is better at his job today then he was 16 months ago!.

Add to this that again it appears as though the McLaren is the car to have, i cant imgaine its near as fickle to setup as many of the other cars. He is doing a good job, congrats to the the guy.

Looking at how Renault dropped off the pace, and this year has found pace, i think lends credence to Alonso's claim that he brought speed to the team/car. Looking at how McLaren fumbled a little upon his departure, whilst less obvious also suggests that this claim was possible. But claiming it as a 100% truth is a big leap, but he no doubt was a big part of the equation

I will wait and see how Heikki goes tonight, the real test is if he has an extra lap or so of fuel, whether he can use it to jump Lewis?!?!?

Roy, I said this year...

Ofcourse i know LH was getting info from FA...most drivers do that - they are a team after all and if one driver can fill the gap with info that the other driver is struggling to get then ofcourse its feasible.

I am not one eyed.

The only difference in the FA/LH saga was that as Lewis began to cane FA, FA said f**k this - im not giving him any more data,..or ill give him the wrong data...

Makes sense too. If it were me and my race data was helping a rookie to flog me, then id be pulling the plug too.

08 is a completely different story and thats what i was making reference to...not 07.

Lastly, you yourself admitted that data is carried over from last year. With that in mind, and its something im not arguing, LH took that data as a starting point and promptly smashed pole with it. The fact that he did it in only 6 laps throughout quali, is more a credit to him getting the car right than FA leaving data behind from last year.

Dont you think so?

And look at Heikki - he was tenths slower than Hamilton which may be due to fuel loads but i dont think LH is fuelled as light as everyone would believe.

Either way it will be a Mac 1-2 tomorrow and wont that be a sight for sore eyes!

okay im doing this this one more time for you adam so that you dont think im picking on you, because i like you. but im going to break into down into point form

nobdy caimed he couldnt set up a car this year... at all i think. that criticism was levelled at him a year ago.

you're arguing a moot point.

I am not one eyed.

ohhhh yes you are

and the cold hard facts will tell you that Nando had the upper hand for the remaining half of the season where hammo was left to his own devices

08 is a completely different story and thats what i was making reference to...not 07.

i think SOME credit is due to the car he's been given to pedel around the circuit too... remember that

And look at Heikki - he was tenths slower than Hamilton which may be due to fuel loads but i dont think LH is fuelled as light as everyone would believe.

hekki may be good, but he's no superstar as im sure we'd all agree. Not exactly a yard stick worth screaming about. beating nando is similar equipment DEFINATELY worth screaming about. And in the second half of the season when give no help hamilton struggled to do

Either way it will be a Mac 1-2 tomorrow and wont that be a sight for sore eyes!

you're telling me brother
