Whiplash
Well done hammo, most exciting race of the season. second that, it was a great race. happy to see the torro rosso cars up playing with the big boys thought kimi had it in the bag until the 2nd stop. Roy
So, thinking back to Webber. I wonder where he coud have placed if Heikki had a clue. Luckiest guy in F1, did very little in the Renault, picks up one of the best 4 seats in F1, hasnt even had a good weekend that has seen him show real pace...and lucked into the record books as a GP winner. Funny enough, I like the guy and he seems a pleasant fella. But fancy a bloke still learning the ropes of F1 getting that seat But interestingly enough, my earlier comment about how Lewis gained an advantage and passing opportunity by shooting accross the chicane...well i just heard its beign investigated. Probably cop a fine but will laugh my ass off if the whole FIA hate MacLaren rears its head. It was a line ball thing in my eyes, but not as bad as that move earlier this year on i think it was Rosberg Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/122/#findComment-4117513 Share on other sites

jonn
Bad luck Kimi but well done Massa with the win. Snowman
I reckon Lewwy will get the win back. Some of the stuff he has done since coming in has been stupid and for that I generally think the guy is a twat but this time he fixed his mistake as far as I'm concerned. And I think that will end up being what is ruled after the appeal. ctjet
Just one season mate... Cant we have just ONE season without this crap? That’s two races in a row now with the most horrible stewards calls we’ve seen in a long time Mclaren lost last season because of this, now it seems like just winning races on merit and generally being better on the day isn’t good enough anymore. If Massa wins this years title by 4 points or less, ill be done with this sport Edited September 7, 2008 by ctjet Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/122/#findComment-4117743 Share on other sites
NISMO
It's a tough one, cause the stewards will argue that had he taken the bus stop without cutting, he wouldn't have been as close to Kimi as he was. From what I've read, I think the issue is that even though he gave back the spot, he was still closer to Kimi than if he had gone through the corner behind him. ctjet
You can then argue than if kimi had not pushed him so wide that hammo was forced to either drive off track or slam into the side of him, he took the sensible option, dutifully let the man who cut him off past again and kept the race going The Mclaren was a faster car by a good portion of a second, the fact that he caught kimi again by the hairpin is moot. He would have caught him again anyway. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/122/#findComment-4117760 Share on other sites

I think in the whole "spirit" of the race, where they were both attacking, racing down the run off areas, and given the conditions, the fact that it's even being looked at is a pretty pi$$ poor effort. The fact that Ferrari didn't even bother with a complaint proves this. It was a good stoush, Kimi crashed out, and Massa was to far behind to be hard done by through anything either Kimi or Lewis did. What are they trying to prove with all this, other than a few stewards trying to get their names in the papers?? "cut him off" lol! Its called "taking your line". Its proper forecful racing - particularly when you're safe in the knowledge the guy behind you needs points and can't afford to crash out with his championship contender right behind him in the points. Lewis barely got a wheel in there - it wasn't his corner. and running people wide on exit is par for the course - you're inside its your line to take. The Mclaren was a faster car by a good portion of a second, the fact that he caught kimi again by the hairpin is moot. He would have caught him again anyway. catching and passing are two very different things mate Edited September 8, 2008 by hrd-hr30 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/122/#findComment-4117903 Share on other sites
