Marco-R34GTT
The end for DC made me cry though- how crappy to end your f1 career without even finishing the first lap Reminds me a bit how ol' Johnny Herbert finished his career, massive suspension failure at Malaysia, carried out of his car like a rag-doll... Pretty dissapointing imho... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/183/#findComment-4237985 Share on other sites

knore
Not happy! I cant believe that with glock, i was jumping up and down and yelling because lewis had lost it.. then glock pulls over! Think im going into f1 withdrawl for awhile.. Massa showed the emotion and humbleness that is needed in a good world champion. I doubt lewis' ego would ever let him cry. Ill be at the melb gp next year, lets hope the field is all over the place next year. And for the record lewis fans, he isnt the best. The greatest are determined by their longevity of success Now if only he didnt get spoon fed and start in a mclaren Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/183/#findComment-4238057 Share on other sites

jonn
Yes Lewis Hamilton is the World Champion but nothing will change the fact that he is still a c*ck head Be interesting to see next the series next year. HK can't have much time left to prove himself and I suspect Ferrari will be back better than ever. Still good to see Alonso put in some great drives to the end of the year. As for Glock pulling over, well that's a bit disappointing but something you can expect of F1 these days. LH must know he was lucky and was choking under pressure yet again. Beer Baron
well I was right and wrong. homo did everything he could to try and give massa the WDC. he drove like a pu55y. and I honestly think the boy was full of fear. after his ultra aggressive effort last year cost him the WDC this year he just choked. couldn't pass a force india for god's sake and vettel carved him up. you can't really say he won himself the WDC. he sat back and glock handed it to him. he is the luckiest mofo out there. massa on the other hand for once actually put some effort it and gave it everything he had. sure his strong point has always been driving from the front but he did what he had to, to make sure that it would happen. I don't dispute that homo is one of the fastest drivers in F1. he certainly has amazing pace and great feel for the car, but he still has a long way to go before he is a top all round driver, not just a fast one. but I can see it would be hard for him to see what's real and what's not as he's had people blowing smoke up his arse for so long now that his mouth must taste like an ash tray... I really feel for massa. he did everything right. homo did everything wrong, yet somehow still got there courtesy of glock somehow dropping 18seconds in 1 lap and choosing to forget that he was racing vettel and homo for position. everyone jumping up and down saying 'see I told you so' just remember that homo only won it by a bee's dick and for 90% of the last 2 laps looked like it was all over for him and massa would win it. so don't get too carried away. the bloke one by one point... I didn't watch the podium but I understand massa had a little cry. not too cool, but at least he showed he cared. he must be dirty as hell that after doing everything right he still got robbed. I can't believe I actually feel sorry for massa! who'd have thunk it? Beer Baron
one thing you can say about Hamilton - he's earnt everything he got! gotta respect a champion like that. Its not like the WDC was just handed to him on a silver platter like everything else in his career. /sarcasm haha, I nearly spat out my coffee laughing at that one. Beer Baron
This one is funny as well haha: hehe. it's a good one. I hope poor glock at least get's a thank you card. but then again homo's head is so far up his own arse that he probably thinks his brazil race was driven with such great skill and perfect timing to win the WDC without any help from timo. anyway, all the fans will jump up and down saying how great he is, and see I told you so. but be honest, it's a pretty weak way to win a WDC. finishing in 6th place by a cnt hair and stuck behind a little kid in a torro rosso... skyguy61
I'd like to see the telemetry from Glocks car and i bet he wasnt tryin........17seconds a lap slower than the previous laps something smells here!!! You think Hamilton could have at least tryed to drive into 3rd place instead he drove like a pussy and it almost cost him the championship...oh well who said pussy's dont win huh Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199728-2008-f1-season/page/183/#findComment-4239164 Share on other sites
Roy
Before we all hang Timo, when there is no grip there is no grip. Dont forget he only two stopped so those tyres whilst having plenty of heat in them initially would have been slicks and when the pace and temp went...he would have been farked for pace. Real shame. Just watched the race again. Massa won more GPs, had a failure that robbed him. When it mattered, pole, fastest lap and race win. He did enough to win the WDC, but it just wasnt to be. Will be interesting to see if he can get a better start to the season next year, and whether he can prove that KImi had an off year this year or Massa simply is the most improved driver on the grid. Roy
Personally i think the current points loading is ok. Only you need to get two points for pole, this will encourage some risky fuel strategies to get up front. One point for fastest lap. And here is the one i am not sure about. You get 2 points if you overtake/gain 6 positions or more cars in a race. Only risk is that you can end up with far too complicated a sysytem. But points for pole is good. Point for fastest lap is deserved. And points for doing well from the back of the grid is deserved. Beer Baron
I still reckon you need 4 point gap between first and second, then 2 points between 2nd and third, that will encourage people to go hard for the win. and means if you do go hard and DNF for whatever reasn (blow up etc) you don't need to win 5 races (with your opponent coming 2nd) for you to make up for that 1 fck up. think about it. it's screwey. if you have 1 dnf and your opponent wins you'd need to beat the 5 times just to get back on an even keel! harsh. beer baron's sytem is rock solid. 12/8/6 then 54321. 2 points pole. 1 point fastest lap. 1 point most laps lead (so if you do dnf after leading for 65/70 laps you at least get a booby prize). not sure about the point for 6 place improvement. I like it. not 100% convinced though yet. and Carlo has hit the nail on the head. the old system rewarded winning much more strongly, but the FIA got the shits with schumacher winning the WDC halfway through the season due to his proflific win rate. they wanted to ensure peolpe watched the races right to the end so they changed it to ensure no one could build a big lead by winning lots of races (gee what a top idea....). wolverine
i don't think you need points for pole position but maybe a larger gap between P1 and P2 on the grid. benm
http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews/2008/11/8642.html Q: Were you taking it easy on the final lap? TG: Absolutely not! It was completely the opposite; the final lap was one of the hardest laps I have done in Formula One because there was no grip at all and on dry tyres it was almost impossible to keep the car on track. I was pushing really hard to keep fourth place and if you look at the lap times I was actually faster than Jarno on the final lap and he was the only other car on dry tyres at that stage. I agree with BB in that Homo didn't "win" the WDC, he simply had more points at the end of the season and came first. Re Points: I believe that the points system should go to atleast 12th if not 15th. You have drivers like MW, DC, RB, JB whom always finish around 10-12th but never get rewarded, then you have drivers whom might have 1 good race out of an entire system and end up with more points. Extending the points system would create more mid-pack rivalry instead of just the top 2 teams battling it out. I wonder what next years tv coverage will be like now that ITV is finished... The points system has been changed more times than you can poke a stick at. It used to be that you only counted your 6 best results from the year. Which suited things better when cars were chronically unreliable & teams/drivers did not necessarilly enter all events. In 1965 Jim Clark won the WDC with 6 wins out of ten rounds - although he missed Monaco because it clashed with the Indy 500 - which he won. In the 80"s it was 11 out of 16 with points only down to 6th place 9-6-4-3-2-1. It slowly evolved to the current system whereby all races are counted & you get points down to 8th. The major driving factor behind this was the increased reliability of the cars (DNF's are much less common than they once were). It means the smaller teams get to score more points more often. That the WDC is more likely to go into the final round unresolved keeps peoples interest up. Mika
The people here who are paying out Hamilton for defending his title lead and being conservative in the latter races are the same people who condemn him for being aggressive. Make up your mind. everyone jumping up and down saying 'see I told you so' just remember that homo only won it by a bee's dick and for 90% of the last 2 laps looked like it was all over for him and massa would win it. so don't get too carried away. the bloke one by one point... As did Kimi last year...to a rookie. I'm sure you weren't telling people to not get too carried away about that. If it weren't for bad luck with the gearbox last year in the final round at Interlagos, he'd have 2 WDC's out of 2 attempts. Give the guy credit where it is due. He's got the job done this year despite all the unusual penalties handed to him this season.
