It's not a ball of wax, its bad luck.

slapping a wall on your own is fine...you know. Taking out another driver with a missle is not... hence my frustration with KR.

By the way, whether we hate him or love im, The way LH put 40 seconds on Massa was ridiculous. I watched the whole live timing and the way he banged in fastest sectors was wicked.

Webber also blazed some fastest laps as did Sutil of all people but im sure that was tyre gambling more than anything else...

Taking out another driver who is a few hundred meters down the road and just so happens to be in the path of a car that will not be stopped due to a driver error a few hundred meters away from the 'victim' is simply bad luck. You can try to argue otherwise all you like, but put your hatred for KR aside and you'll see that you're beating your head against a wall.

If you want to whine about a driver plowing into another car, how about you talk about Alonso trying to stick it up the inside of (can't remember who exactly, but I think it was Nakajima) at the hairpin....Surely he knew that move was never going to come off, but he stuck it up there anyway.

unfortuunately, KR's mistake was a quite noob, he probably thought that being the last 11 laps of the race and the track drying out he could attack a slower car in front of him but put a wheel wrong. I think he said he tried to give Sutil some breathing space by braking earlier, but that seemed to be a costly mistake.

re: personality

Personality is part of F1 regardless and you ahve to take that along with the driving skills. Obviously different people have different likes and dislikes and will try to justify why they like and hate certain drivers. Just because someone is fast, doesn't mean I have to like him. I think a lot of people like KR is because he doesn't talk himself up, or doesn't talk much at all. Every time when they ask him what are his chances of winning WDC, he always says "it's a long season, still X races to go, anything can happen", to me it comes across as pretty humble. When it comes to Lewis, I think the media is playing him up too much and to some people, ,they don't subscribe to that regardleess how much you cram down their mouth. I mean, look at the publicity thing he did for Vodafone (dangling from a wooden horse was it?), he later said he hated it because it didn't make him look cool and he said "I do have a cool image to maintain" or somewhere along that line. That just seemed pretty arrogant. Then there's the "I want to emulate Senna" comment. I guess you could interpret that in two ways, either 1. I want to be a great racing driver like Senna or 2. I want you all to worship me like you did Senna. Either way, he should not have said it, he should've just kept his mouth shut kept it to himself and once he got there, then he can say "yes I've always wanted to be like Senna". I think Senna was and still is special to most people and they don't want another Senna, just like we don't want another Schumacher. To say he wants to em,ulate and be like him is like saying I want to replace him. To some people, it rubs the wrong way.

I don't hate him, I just don't like him. But I will give credit where it's due, he is one hell of a good driver, ,he just needs to ignore the press and concecntrate on winning.

lol, i dont hate KR..i just didnt expect him to lose it in the dry....MS a few years back anyone? Lol, at least the safety car wasnt involved!

It was Heidfeld by the way. Yeah that was dumb of Alonso. It was like he couldve stopped but just did it anyway? Brain fade anyone?

That allowed Webber to get through but did you see Webber tag Alonso with his front wing> Bloody hell it was close. If MW had to come in a for a new front wing it woulda ben curtains for 4th as it was.

I don't see how Raikkonen's mistake was any worse than Coulthard's in Q2? The fact that he managed to hold it as the back end snapped out lightning fast, kept it off the wall, but obviously wasn't braking as he normally would at that point and ended up in the back of Sutil... And I've already mentioned he was on cold tires/brakes at the time...

The webman fills me with pride....bloody stunning. I was almost hoping Massa would stuff up so he could get on the podium..........almost, but then I like Massa just as much as I like Webber.

Your right James and im not going to try and guess what he meant when he said those things...

I dont hear the same things you do..is it because im blown away by the way hes just walked right in and pwned the shit out of everyone? Dunno. I guess im not reading the tabloids enough...

Cmon, when was the last time we have seen this? I cant remember.

I prefer to listen less to what the driver says and focus a lot more on what he does.

The only problem is that you're very selective with what you do and don't see...

pwnd everyone? Here I was thinking KR won the WDC, and Alonso finished level on points with LH...

Webbos got a habit of getting on or near the poduim in Monaco hasnt he>?

That speaks its own volumes. Damn i hope RB get their shit together... Webbo was saying after quali that the car simply wasnt fast enough...and itll be a little kick in the teeth for those in the factories because hes saying "Im fast enough - you can see that by the way ive qualified this mediocre RB in the top ten yet again tand im ringing the bastards neck but the car isnt up to it. Give me more speed."

Well put actually.

Lol, Dezz your on the money but unfortunately as teh old Bernster said "KR will never be a great champion because he doesnt talk enough!" ROFLMFAO.

And Alonso? Weeeelllll... lets go back a season when he Blackmailed RD and the mac team... not to mention him facilitating the reasoning behind Macs super fine.

Alonso dug his own grave and now, justly, hes going to spend a couple of seasons in mediocrity... F1 pergatory if you will.

Im sure hes learnt a tough lesson but he deserved it. LH on the other hand had absolutely nothing to do with the internal politiking going on...he was too green to know any better.

Yes they both won WDC and i was stoked for them both in my own way but theyve done other things that have taken the gloss off. Fairs fair Dezz.

lol, i was so stoked to meet Alonso and i still would be stoked if we met again but i know about him differently now...not like it would come up tho.. hes capable of some pretty dirty moves..

Dezz,

Again, its coming down to driver personality. lol, KR in a strip club, falling off a boat plastered...just the kind of role model everyone needs when theyre growing up...

KR's mistake was the stuff of Noobs. Its NOT the kind of mistake we expect to see from a WDC. Im surprised Sutil didnt deck Raikkonen for being such a dick. MS on TS at Spa anyone? TS deserved that whack across the head for being such a twit and wrecking both their races. Why dont we start calling KR a crasher?

Ofcourse i saw LH put it in the wall. Yes it was lucky he got out of that. You cant take the win away from him and theres only one thing thats better than a guy winning Monaco and that a guy who does it in the wet and that after putting it in the wall at the start of the race.

For you to even suggest that we would be capable of the same feats is laughable.

1. Ok, Kimi likes to party, tell me, has anyone here NOT been pissed and/or been to a stripclub?? Whether KR does it or not, men will still act like men (until they start acting like Louise Hamilton, God forbid).. He isn't the first sportman to get pissed nor is he the first to go visit a stripclub, at least Kimi isn't into all the PC and beuraucratic bullshit that is usually associated with F1. KR is his own man and THAT is what makes him likeable, in a way Kimi is a bit of a working class hero, acts like a normal person and behaves like one...

2: I recall Mika going off at Becketts in 1998 and knocking off his front wing, I also recall Schumacher napping and falling off the track at Indy in 2000, in wet conditions, even champions make mistakes... Catching a bit of moisture on cold tyres after a safety car run isn't a 'noob' thing, sure, it was a driver error... However racing is racing.. Take some accountability for the fact LH was the noob (or should I say kn0b) last year that lost himself then championship, don't blame the FIA cause he couldn't keep it together, he had every chance to win it or blow it and blow it he did..

3: Difference between Senna/Schumacher and Hamilton is that they would not have tagged the wall, that in itself was a noob error... Guess you've got your own head so far up LH's arse you can't tell the difference... Sure he has talent, but if any of us were signed with the McLaren F1 team, most of us could be (nearly) that good with those kind of resources mobilised behind us... I say LH does have natural talent, but it is hard to be bad when you've been fostered from your pre-pubescent years.. I hope no driver for the rest of F1 history comes through like LH, due to the matter being so polarising it just isn't fair... Also, it is bad for the image of the sport, for a while it was pay drivers, but now it is 'drivers engineered from childhood', not on... Ok, maybe we couldn't be as good, but it has made it a lot easier for him, and the fact he's always acting like the victim when he has had the uber easy way... Not on....

What happened to Kimi and Sutil was the pits. But how is it any different to Webber, Vettel. MS/Couthard etc etc. Its racing and it usually happens in the wet.

Kimi apologised, what more do you want? It must feel horrible for Sutil, but he can take solace in the fact that Kimi binned both of their races before Sutil threw it away trying to hold position, or the car failed, or he hit a wall...or he could have held on for a great 4th or 5th. But thats racing....and he showed he has some grit about him to keep his head in those sorts of condition. Alonso, Piquet, Button, Rosberg, Kimi, Heidfled etc and to a lesser extent Hamilton didnt....so that is a huge wrap for the guy.

Hamilton won last night, but like all ppl that walk away with a WDC luck played a part. What i cant get my head around is what the hell is happening with Heikiki. The guy keeps showing glimpses of what he can do...but he is like Rosberg in Bahrain 2006 and is nowhere when he shows his goods. Surely he will be able to make it to the first round of pitstops in a reasonable position soon.

And Adam, get fired up all you want. If you like a driver because of his driving, not who he is out of the seat then fine. I happen to like who they are out of the seat more then there actual driving. To me its more important, you know the old how you play the game. Hamo is a great talent, and will only get better. But the day i see him truly grind out a great result well i will say that his ability in the seat probably compensates. Funnily enough last night was probably his best race in my eyes, even though he did bin it in the early laps. His confidecne didnt get knocked around too much and he recovered for the remaining part of the GP. But pit stops, safety cars and driving a tougher then leather McLaren all helped. But would have been interesting if the race didnt come to him what he would have done in palces 3-5 in the pack.

Roll on Canada, hopefully Kubica can get up after the shocker he had last year. And Webber is somewhere in the mix again.

Mark, what the feck are you on about in this paragraph? The first two? fair game but this...

Both MS and AS binned their cars faster than a homeless man on a can run on countless occasions and deliberately took people out like a mafia hitman going into KFC...

Listen. What kid hasnt been "engineered" when it comes to racing? They all have. How hard is it for you to understand that Ron bloody Dennis saw this before anyone else did? Youre basically saying RD doesnt know shit from clay. Not very cool. How long has he been scalping the best drivers? RD has always ONLY had the best drivers in his cars. Period.

No driver i can think of has ever gotten a Mac seat by paying for it.

Again, you'd be 30 seconds off the pace if even should you have the Mac to yourself for a few laps. Dude, give these guys some credit. They have all been "engineered" to some degree. I'm not going to hate on Hammo because RD saw his shit before he even sprouted his first pube.

Kimi on the other hand IS a champion, and has the title to prove it..

As for Louise being the innocent rookie, I'm pretty sure Brisby has given you a dot point break down of the shit he can get up to when he wants to, but I'm sure you've chosen to ignore that :P

lol, I was only answering ya rant like i said i wud :P

Ive got to watch the race again. I watched live timing and the japanese broadcasting but thise guys are even worse that ITV... Its like the only people in the GP are either Japanese drivers or Japanese manufacturers. They NEVER mention Webber - pisses me right off.

Youre spot on Roy when you said that luck plays a part in any WDC. Everyone of those bastards has to have a little and lose a little. Its all fair game.

Eh? Whos brisby? And where can i find that post? I dont even remember it... :P

Choice or accident? :(

    • who can tell me what this is and why my car talks to me? i think it's hilarious. it's on my r34 right above the drivers-side storage compartment. the characters under the wrench say "inspection". every 10 or 20 startups, a voice starts talking in japanese from some speaker in this area below the dashboard. it says a few sentences then shuts off. different from the ETC card reader voice that happens every time i start the car. I've never found the speaker, i've never been able to catch the voice and translate what it says, and i've never found a forum thread that tells me how to reset the warnings. the holes in between the symbols are NOT buttons you can press to reset the warnings. anyone else have this? has the demon lord from Hereditary infected my car?!

    • Happy new years folks! Wishing you all a successful year of money pit ownership!  So the subframe bushes are out....   Ok, who else has done that job before??  What a C U Next Tuesday of a job that is!  Be glad to not do that again in a hurry! I think I explored every option available to chop the middle section of the bushes out, most of them unsuccessfully! I tried a holesaw, die grinder, normal drill bit, air chisel, etc, etc. The true success happened by accident when I'd decided to try a step drill I spotted on the bench on the way passed.  See, there are benefits to never cleaning up after yourself! It RIPPED through so so much better than the drill bit. It has to be the skinniest one available so its small enough to fit between the inner tube and outer casing but it made easy work of it.  First one i hammered the shit out of... New method- 20250102_185506.mp4   I did the other 5 in less time than I fluffed around with the first one. With the first couple I used the cut off saw (sawsall as the yanks love to call them) to cut a break in the outer casings. Even with that they're still a prick to hammer or air chisel out.  The last few i just went rambo with the air chisel without cutting them. I over cut one of the early ones so will hit the with the mig to fill the cut then sand it off smooth.  The carnage left over-   I've also been "nesting" ie, cleaning up my babies nursery,  ie cleaning the f**king pig sty of a shed. I've got that much shit laying around it's as cluttered as my head!  Getting things put away, in boxes, on shelves, hanging off walls, all to get some working space back again.  Hopefully that keeps me motivated....
    • AFAIK does the base map for Haltech even have the 4D compensation enabled? It's been a while but when I looked at it I remember it was actually using pure TPS as one load signal and MAP for another. Seemed workable but not ideal by any stretch. A lot of people have "make the event-itis" which leads to stuff like this happening.
