good race. I only watched it last night as I was busy sunday, but good work webber. finishing 6th is top work, and he managed to pass alonso somwhere along the line, because after the first stop alonso passed him when he made a mistake. hard to believe mark is doing so well in a car that is so average. any day you finished ahead of guys like heidfeld, alonso and piquet (wthout them having any problems) is a good day.

as for hamilton? he drove like a clown. like troy said he can be dangerous through traffic. he is in a car that is miles faster than most of the field but he's certainly not making the most of it.

watching some of kubica's on board was lovely. man he is good. inch perfect lines and very smooth, and he just seems to have a very good command of the car.'

but the biggest thing for me is what a f**king old toss bag james allen is. he has become worse than murray was. I mean murray cocked up too, but at least he had some endearing qualites. allen makes so many fking mistakes and just basically prattles on about nonsense. he should be shown the door post haste. absolute fool of a fellow.

and adam, the rules are pretty clear, if you gain advantage by short cutting a chicane, you either give the place back, or get a penalty. hamilton had a choice, and he choce penalty. d'oh!

and a nice little stat. webber is currently 8th in the WDC (and would be 7th if not for trullis strong finish). and he is just 2 measly points off 6th place. and 6th place is heikki kovalainen. what a waste of a mclaren. amazing to think webber is 2 points behind the mclaren. driving his crappy red bull.

Yo, Richo, "dangerous" is losing the car coming out of the tunnel at 300kph. Hustling through traffic ragged and wild certainly does make for wicked viewing. I was pretty tense on a few occasions thinking "Oh, boy, its not a matter of if but when..." ...and it never happened.

James Allen is a bit of a wanker...He was talking about Button circulating after his accident when in actual fact he was retired and when Goodman was interviewing him he didnt say a damned thing - probably because he had his foot stuck in his mouth, lol.

You and teh Koob and like me and Hamstings - they can do no wrong.

And as for you saying Hamilton didnt make the most of it, you forget the fact that he was 9th after the first lap after starting in 13th, got the penalty, was dropped to 19th and then managed to make his way back up to 10th. Pretty aggressive driving and just missing out on the points - and that on a day where only 1 person out of the whole field retired.

A good drive.

I still disagree that it was a 'good drive'. any time you finish outside the points in the fastest car in the field there is a problem. he brought the penalty on himself. and passing force indias, and TRs and hondas and red bulls etc is all well and good, but come on. it's a mclaren. and like I said, 10th may as well have been last, it's all zero points.

with the making the most of it thing, I really meant in general, not just in this race. don't forget is is now 4th in the WDC. with kimi, massa and the dirty polack in front of him. I'd have to say heiki is wasting his drive even more. i mean 2 more points and webber will be beating him! now that is just sad..

at least we can agree allen is a fk head. yeah the button mistake was gold. as was the one when webbers radio was on screen and his engineer goes, hey mark you're racing alonso today. james allen goes "well clearly that wasn't marks radio but it was hamiltons"... knob. of course for him everything is about hamilton even when it clearly farking said WEBBER on the screen and the fact that webber is right behind alonso and farking hamilton at that point was miles away from them having stopped. plus he made up a nice word, "watch the cars change of direction and their dynamamism...." good one.

Well, lets put the fact that he was driving a mac aside and look at the fact that he was making up ground. He got the 3rd fastest lap was it? His passes on Gonzo were awesome and i like the way he bitch slaps the car around the track.

Yes hes trailing by 10 points but still its only 10 points and that can change in one race - there are still 10 races left - 100 points so you can count on the boy getting up.

I cant believe the reaming hes copping in the british press - holy heaven are they a mob of vicious bastards.

Totally unjustified.

It was bound to happen though.

I LOL'ed at PK juniors pathetic comments in the press about "getting one up on Gonzo" - Man if you thought Hammo was bad...

Good efforts, but again in context. He was coming from the back fo the grid and had plenty of laps with no traffic. And i only saw i pass on Gonzo and it was before he pitted. Again, it was a silly move!!!!! Why pull a move on a car when you are about to pit? He had nothing to gain, 1/10th of a second, he woudl have lost that much tryingthe pass and holding both drivers up. And had everything to lose! It is possible that the Renault raio call came to not stress as Lewis had to pit any lap. But its just another example that Lewis is getting too much power in calling his own strategy and he doesnt have the head on his shoudlers at present to be makign smart decisions.

Agree with Baron, didnt realise Webber was so close to Heikki. Sure Heikki has had some rotten luck....but its a tragedy that the second Mclaren isnt able to take any points away from his team mates title challengers!

And all this talk about fuel correct qualifying pace. I find it interesting that its always Heikki who they are fuelling heavy, it gives Lewis track position, priority in the pits and a better grid position and means Heikki plays rear gunner. The whole no1 status thing isnt always so clear cut, but its starting to look like Heikki is happy being a lap dog to Lewis. :) Not what you want to see in the second seat of a competitive team

Well Piquet is under alot of pressure & for the first time this year he hardened up & outdrove his team mate. So he did get one up on Alonso. Good luck to him.

Anyway for those complaining about James Allen don't worry. Next year the broadcast rights will be going back to the BBC, hence you won't need to put up with ITV's nonsense. Problem is the rumour has it Richard fkn Hammond will be doing James Allen's job. So there. You wished for a change & see what you got for your troubles. Happy now? :D:ermm::P:):)

I wouldnt exactly call sneaking through on a Gonzo error a couple of laps from the finish "outdriving him"

Gonzo was a victim of renaults stupid publicity stunt that fuelled him ridiculously light. :)

I also LOL'ed at Gonzo saying "so what, he took a couple of points off me - its not the end of the world for me." :D

Well, there were 2 passes, one before the pitstop and then again after that.

Gonzo had a bad day, thats for sure.

d'oh! but at least hammond doesn't suffer from dimentia like allen seems to. he is all over the shop. he must sink about 12 cans before he goes on air I reckon. the number of mistakes he makes is laugable, and poor old brundle has to sit their trying to pretend it's not happening.

I reckon heiki and webber should swap seats. a good experienced driver like webber could certainly help louis out. sure louis can drive, but it's all the other things he needs help with, keeping calm, managing the team, the press all the other bits. and webber is no hack and would benefit hugely from a mclaren under him. surely he would help take points away from the others in order to help mclaren with the WDC and the WCC. heiki on the other hand may well flourish in a team where he could well be the no1 but with an older team mate (DC) who is still sharp to guide him and help mold him into a top driver. plus no pressure on him to perform in a red bull, but still enough car under him to do what webber does and grab points when the chance arises. it's a win win.

Maybe but the unintended consequence is, in all probability, no more free to air champions league.

Webber will never get a McLaren seat. I can’t see them getting rid of Heikki either, he is a low key guy with talent who won’t rock the ship. I will be surprised if he wins a GP this year.

I suspect its team politics that mean he isn’t competitive from week to week. Montoya and Alonso were far stronger personalities and they didn’t fit well inside McLaren. Their desire to be competitive was always going to be frustrating when in a car alongside McLarens golden boys. Just like DC didn’t rock the boat for Mika, and Kimi, Heikki wont challenge the back seat view he is getting behind Lewis.

It’s a shame as I would love to know how good Heikki is, his pace suggests that if given the same strategy as Lewis he would be outqualifying him and who knows what would then translate over a race distance with better grid positions. He also has had a tough season in an ordinary car, you only have to look at Heikki’s race on the weekend to see that his drive was controlled and aggressive enough to see him walk up the grid. A thing he has had to do most of the season :(

for god sakes, someone sign up webber already....he's had years of shit luck in shit cars and now that the bad lulck is behind him, he's stuck with an average car. Even then, he's kicking renault's ass. He definitely deserves to be in the one of the top teams.

I've definitely changed my views about alonso. I didn't really rate him that much back in 05, mainly because he was doing well at a time when the Ferraris were having a shocking year, so I've always assumed it was due to that. It wasn't until this year that I finalyl saw how good Alonso really is, putting that POS renault in the front.

Good to see I'm not alone in noticing the multitude of mistakes that retard makes race after race after race after race....It's painful to sit through, I feel embarrassed for him.

lmao. why should we put the fact that he's driving 1 of the best cars on the grid, aside? It's not all that impressive making up positions when the cars in front of you are Force Indias and Hondas...I really wasn't impressed with his efforts. How many laps was he stuck behind Piquet for...?

Hammo is still bad, way bad, far worse than anything that has befallen us before...

Its completely hypocritical the view your taking. You bemoan the lack of overtaking, the lack of action - the staleness of it all - then you turn around and slam one of the drivers who is actually restoring the very aspects of racing many of us have sorely missed. The EXACT same things you accuse him of driving foul to.

You are the type of armchair viewer that can never be satisfied. You complain when its dull, when its boring, when you dont want to watch - that this track will be boring as hell, that team is hopeless, this manager wouldnt know balls even if a rottie grabbed his stones, etc etc etc, then a driver does something risque, outside the box, blatantly out there, wild, on the edge and you call him a bloody idiot.

Im NOT making excuses for fundamental errors made - driving into the back of a stationary car in the pits for example.

I suppose you hated Hunt, Hill, Villeneuve, Mansell, Patrese, Montoya, Peterson, Jones, et al for their extravagance as well id take it. I wouldnt even know where to begin with that list but they were unbelievably scrappy, gritty, no holds barred drivers that didnt mind a shove as long as there was a shove back and a beer afterwards and called a spade a spade.

You make me LOFL.

Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica, Kimi Raikkonen, and to a lesser extent, Fillipe Massa, Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg and even Takuma Sato and Adrian Sutil - heck most of the overtakers on the grid with a few exceptions ( regardless of who is overtaking whom or what team is overtaking what team ) are making it more fun to watch them do what they do best this year.

Dont you dare forget there are 5 - yes 5 - drivers heading into a title fight this year and that is a prospect we have not seen since Schumacher was a boy.

F1 has been MADE by these people or do you forget that?

F1 has been made by people who appear dangerous because IT IS a bloody dangerous sport and when i get the cash ill sponsor a full season for you Dezz just so the world can see how talented you are behind the wheel and to show everyone once and for all that all this F1 driving bizzo aint all its cracked up to be and the majority of the drivers these days are pussehs.

The fact you used the word "retard" to explain hammos driving is clear and blatant ignorance.

That "retard" missed out on the 2007 F1 world championship by 1 single, solitary point - and wiped the floor with a 2 time world champion in the process.

Done crying yet?

I pretty much gave up on your post as soon as you began to ramble on about me whinging about a lack of overtaking, boring tracks, boring this and boring that. You may want to go back, stop cyber blowing your boyfriend Homoton, and read some posts. I very rarely complain about a lack of overtaking, or call a race boring. I've sat through every single minute of racing this year, the year before last, and would've done the same last year if I wasn't overseas for an extended period of time ( I missed 2 races). I don't call races boring, I don't call tracks boring. Better luck next time.

I've tried to make you see time and time again that you look foolish when you attack me without having the faintest idea what it is you're talking about. Perhaps you've confused me with someone who actually does say races are boring, who switch off when their driver/team is no longer in the running. Personally, I watch every single second of every single race, no matter how 'boring' or 'dull' others may think it is, and that goes for the races where Kimi and Ferrari have been out of the running.

Don't preach to me about F1 being a dangerous sport. Do you forget just a few weeks ago telling myself and everyone else in here that KR should have been penalized for endangering the lives of drivers, spectators and marshalls when he lost control of his car in Monaco? Myself and others couldn't even believe we were reading such a statement. It's racing. It's dangerous.

As for your buddy Hamilton, I make no apologies for not being impressed by his lack of passing ability when caught at the back of the pack. No, I can't do any better, but I haven't been brought up racing cars, backed by McLaren Mercedes, and I don't get paid 20+million pounds to do it now :)

The fact you used the word "retard" to explain hammos driving is clear and blatant ignorance.

That "retard" missed out on the 2007 F1 world championship by 1 single, solitary point - and wiped the floor with a 2 time world champion in the process.

That retard missed out on the WDC because of his retarded mistakes :)

i fail to see how he wiped the floor with Alonso but then again different people, view it differently.

Hamilton has skill but i think what people are tring to say is he fail to capitalize on his situation. he is driving a McLaren which on most days is number 1 or 2 machine. I remember watching Schumacher carve up the field when he was back on grid.

Hamilton didn't keep is head in the right place and he payed the price... no points, so all his effort was for nothing he might aswell just smash into one of the ferrari again atleast then he would have stop one of them getting the points.

i think you need to ease up abit you seems to push the whole Hamilton is god of racing alittle to much, give the boy some time you do not become a true champion by just winning one WDC.

Look at someone like Massa, he spent many years being number 2 at Ferrari, he played the part the team wanted him to play and he was happy to do it. Now he has been given the chance look at him go, he still isn't perfect but he sure got alot of fight in him and skill to back it up (but then again some people dont think that)

I don't think Hamilton will ever be able to play as a team player look what happen with Alonso....

Also i dont think hamilton is the reason why racing has become less boring, new drivers, new machines, new rules all play an important role in how fun the sport is to watch

    • Hmm. Yes. I should have been clearer. 1000s for Haltech, for extra headroom. 725s for Nistune. You might even be OK with 640s, but if the possible power ends up much more than 300 rwkW you will run out of headroom on the 640s. That would probably be OK and a signal to not push it to that sort of power with Nistune anyway. At that level you probably do want to be thinking about engine protection functions. Oh, and all of that presumes 98 only, not E85. Well....the 1000s would allow you to run E85 at ~300rwkW territory, again, maybe sort of running out of headroom. Hard to tell with E85 - depends on the tuner as to how rich they like to set it up.
    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
    • Haltech fanboi reporting in. Buy the Haltech!
