hey all i have an r34 gt (n/a) and my front shock absorbers are totally rooted right now.

what i wanted to know was will it be ok to drive the car still and just be extra careful going over bumps etc???

it started off with the front being quite jumpy going over bumps etc, and now its the worst ride :(

any recommedations for new shocks

??

i cant afford coilovers either! but i do currently have lowered king springs in the car.

kyb shocks are great value for money bilsteins are fantastic but think about what ya use ya car for ?

if it never see'e the track kybs will be fine . if ya think ya going to do track work then get something better .

most people cant tell if they have working shocks let alone a stuffed one we see this all the time in the workshop where i work.

why spend a shitload of money if ya not really going to get the full benifet from it .

ps if ya need the part numbers for kyb let me know i will look it up at work for ya .i just got a complete set for my sons r33

true in a sense. But i see it every parts that we buy for the car i see it as an investment in the long term. Blisteins can be rebuilt though. All these years i have known blisteins shocks are one of the best money can buy. But like you said it cost a bit more expensive then the other shocks. But if you can rebuilt it then in the long term its cheaper than most other brands.

An example about 60k kms ago my landcruiser 100 series was in need of shock absobers. Did a little bit of homework and i talked to one of my company spare parts suppliers about it. From memory the cost difference of each shock was about A$100 compared between the original toyota and blistein shocks. And i made a decision to go for blistein in like 2 seconds. Why? Blistein can be rebuilt. So in a sense in the long term its going to be cheaper than running the original toyota shocks. And after installing the blistein shocks on the landcruiser, man the difference in the ride and handling is major. To rebuilt the blistien shocks from memory is A$60/shocks.

So its up to you which to choose of course. But i think if you have the extra cash just get a blistein and it will pay for itself in the long run. Why pay for a set of shocks when its worn and you have to throw it away. But of course theres a limitation on the rbuilt thoug. Like the clydrical can have any dents or not or the shafts can have any nick on it. If they do they are not worth rebuilding cos its going to cost too much. By the way konis can be rebuilt too.
