aussiboir33gts
i own a r33 skyline series 2 96 model and my battery went flat after a week of no use i found out once i was tryin to jumpstart my car that the abs pump kept running even with the car off and no keys in the ignition hence draining the battery. i started the car took it for a drive drives fine but the abs light is on. i also took the 2 abs fuses out so it wasnt running and culdnt run and took the car for a drive and it still feels fine. so i have a few questions? 1. why is the pump staying on??? 2. is it safe to drive my car if i disconnect the abs pump by removing the fuses??? also any other information that may help me out is also apreciated thanx guys Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/199908-when-i-turn-my-car-off-my-abs-pump-stays-on-keeps-running/ Share on other sites
drtfn32
It is "safe" to run your car with ABS i.e removing the fuses for the ABS unit as i run my R32 in N.Z like that without any probs. Omurru
I think i'd be more inclined to find the cause of the problem as opposed to just bypassing it...... Levi_
That computer controls your HICAS too, so don't be surprised if you're getting strange steering feelings. Find the source rather than quick-fixing. scathing
If you crash your car with disabled ABS (i.e. one of the vehicle's active safety features), expect to get reamed hard if your insurer finds out about it. Get it fixed ASAP. I had the same issue as you with my Z33, after I installed HIDs. It appears the high voltage lines were interfering with my car's CAN bus and sending weird signals to it. Your car doesn't have a CAN, to my knowledge, but it could be something really subtle causing your issues.
