Quick Question

Hello,

I know a little bit about skylines, ive owned one for a few years but one thing i dont know and havent been able to check for awhile is about the dump pipe.

I was thinking about buying one of those dump + front pipe in one which is one pipe 3" mandrel bent but i wont to know is that all i need for the standard turbo? or do i need a split dump pipe for the wastegate aswell?

you can use a bellmouth dump/front pipe, but a split pipe is better.

you can buy a 1 piece split dump and front pipe, which is probably best for a stock turbo.

Yep, split front dump is the way to go. Just jap sell some good ones at a decent price.

For standard upgrade applications the bell mouth version is fine. You will not notice a difference between split and bell. But the price JJR have on those splits is pretty low, so its not a bad buy at all. The only problem you may have is like a friend of mine who bought one of the ones pictured and he had to grind back the separating flap to make it fit, apart from that it was fine though.

thats a dump/front pipe, goes from your turbo to your cat. My bro bought one for $280, not bad at all. Looks good and i like it better than the old small split dump (which is like 15cm long) then you have to get a seperate front pipe.

On the dyno or seat of the pants difference?

Because we tried with a JJR split dump and a X-force bellmouth and there was no difference, on a dyno.

(using x-force cat back, same muffler etc)

from memory way back, someone did dyno tests on the difference on a standard machine and i think found the bell mouth better. but when he started moding the spilt was the way to go

Weird how after all their research HKS make bellmouth pipes... Someone should tell them quick!
