height at moment is at 350-355mm as per SK recommendations, its been bugging for years why its so damn stiff and rigid and i just checked the group buy thread a while ago and noticed i put in the stock bumpstops without trimming them and also put in the bumpstops sk supplied with my kit so in actual fact i got like an extra 40-50mm of bumpstop that aint supposed to be there lol, what an idiot i am, when i had it lowered to 330mm or so it was absolutely shocking, bouncy as shit, because it was on the bumpstops.

Hey Brad have very very good friend in game that has done my rears . Height adjustable and has various spring configurations . To suit height , spring rate , coil size , rebound etc. Will send you PM with number if you would like let me know .

The Skyline track day guys have been asking for this style of upgrade for while now so I did the engineering at the same time as I was doing the S13/14/15 kits. Being a strut front end the S13/14/15's can't have circlip height adjustment, so for the guys who wanted height adjustment, I had to have screw adjustment on the lower spring seats on the front legs. Having done the front I had to do the rear and since S13/14/15 have common rear springs and shocks to R32/33/34 and Stageas it seemed logical to do the front of them at the same time. That's the background.

The kits is actually quite simple, it consists of 4 Bilstein threaded sleaves that fit over the shock bodies and sit on/around the circlips. Plus 4 Eibach main springs (2 front and 2 rear) and 2 Eibach tender/helper springs for the rear. There are obviously 4 adjustable lower springs seats, 4 top spring seats and 2 intermediate spring seats (for the rear) included in the kit. The valving in the Group buy Bilsteins has a large enough window to work very well with the spring rates I have chosen for each model. So there is no change in the shocks required. You simply remove the Whiteline springs and their standard configuration spring seats and put on the sleaves, seats and springs. You reuse the standard strut tops. For those of you that already have them, you can sell the Whiteline springs if you want to recover some cost.

The advantages are that you can more easily adjust the height, for looks or corner weighting. Plus there are a few different spring rates available, which is a good thing for the guys who do track days. Keep in mind that you still can't lower the car any more than you can with the original kits, there is no change to the rules of Stagea suspension geometry. Any lower than 355/345 and they still handle badly and ride like shit.

I always use (have always used) Eibach coil springs in the race cars, they are simply the best available and they have a HUGE range of sizes and rates available off the shelf. They do cost a bit more, but their quality is unquestionable. Cost wise it is $1100 less what you get for the Whiteline springs, usually $150 to $200 for the set. I may be able to do Whiteline springs (the availability part of the Eibach advantage) for $150 less (ie $900 in total). The Whiteline coils are top quality, cold wound on a hydraulic bending machine (same as Eibach) in Europe. I would use them all of the time (instead of Eibachs) but it is an availability question, they are not always available. I am trying to put together a Group Buy with Whiteline so that I have enough of the right coils to make it worthwhile. More news shortly.

Hi Gary do u happen to have anymore pics of the threaded coilovers? a closeup of the threaded section etc, or just a bigger pic of the same one u posted earlier?

Now now Brad, are you thinking of what im thinking too?!! Man how come i've a very funny feeling about this suspension that im getting drawn/ uckered or whatever you call it into getting this?!! :laughing-smiley-014:

i checked my susp and i didnt have the 2 bumpstops in so i dont know why its stiff as it is >_< I doubt ill spend money on the other stuff if its gonna be as rough riding as my current setup, i hate bouncing down the road and thats even at a 4wd style ride height lol, just not my cup of tea.

arhh well i always end up with some pain in the arse problem that no one else has with the same product :dry:

funny thing is i dont expect the blisteins to be stiff though. you should contact Sk and see what he says about the "bouncing" thinghy LOL!!

i have been in contact with him recently about it, but we cant work out why its like it is >_< Im either gonna get different coilovers, or the threaded version and buy some custom springs from my mate at the local suspension shop, its just not comfortable to drive in and i usually dont mind stiff suspension, even my gto with tein flex lowered about 70mm (very very low) is smoother and doesnt bounce like my stagea does.

did you have the chance to push on the shock absobers downwards before the chosck were installed? was it hard and were you able to compress the schoks? When i took mine off to install my coilovers, the original shocks that came with the car with an aftermarket sprins wont budge when i push it downwars. Then one of my staff saw me doing it he laughed at me saying i dont have the muscle to do it. So i said to him you try to do it!! And he did and he said is it a shock absober or is it a steel rod?!! HAHA!! Yea it was that hard we couldnt compress it by even 1mm!!

But after switching to the coilover my god its a different beast. Although when you look at my signiture at the bottom of this post you will be amazed at the spring rates which is fairly high. Now its not harsh riding suprisingly. Beleive me. But i have ti soften the dampers 4 click from the softest setting. Going over raolway lines, bunps, corrugates gravelled road its fine. Now my ass is not dead!! and its feels really nice. Although after i switch to the coilovers, the car now have more bodyroll though >_< , But i think i cn deal with it first (no budget!!). I think i spent about close to A$10k already on mods ETC. So will be taking it wasy for now.

I just bought an 18" rims, i hope it wont effect the ride too much and hopefully it wont cause any undercarriage rattling when go ove railwa lines and corrugated roads.

good luck trying to compress a car shockie... that are designed for a 1600kg car, not a 100kg person. >_<

Nah never went it the 33 Mitchy, u can come in the stagea next time and compare lol. I hope the last post doesnt come off as me slagging the products, i am just saying how my situation is.

Ill sort something out soon enough and make it right no matter what it takes haha.

money spent is a subject i dont like discussing lol, i have made everything the best possible products i can to avoid these dramas of doing mods twice

I am working through this with him, we will find out what is wrong and fix it. There is some reason why his is different from all the others, once we find it I will fix it. As I said to him, I am here, I am not going anywhere, whatever it takes to solve this one I am on the case and I don't give up until it is fixed.

Thanks Gary, i appreciate it, i am not trying to put down your product in anyway, i was considering swapping to different coilovers without mentioning what i had at the moment for that very reason, but if we can sort it i would be very happy and probably change to the threaded versions.

    • HUMVEE are fine in big open areas, but they are problematic on the street and tight areas As for reliability, some of the  US Army guys I have chatted with have said that when they were working they were fine, but, the do spend alot of time in workshops for multiple reasons, admittedly, they did get a hard time by the boys and girls who drove them I would definitely put them in the "buyer beware" category  They do look tough as nails though 
    • Just don't use ChatGPT or any other artificial stupidity for the equivalent of googling. Their demonstrated inability to discriminate reality from hallucination should be enough to make them totally untrusted. LLMs don't know anything and cannot think to even the smallest extent. They are just predictors of the next word, and that should never be confused with capability.
    • I think, given the usage model described in the OP, I'd never ever experience the wonders of the 400kW upgrade. What I really need is boost from 2000rpm and probably no more than 260-270rwkW. But I suspect that the highflow is not actually the turbo for that purpose, so I may in fact need to get a G25 or 30 or something right sized and very spooly. We shall see after it is tuned. I've had to back the boost and boost ramp off to stop the thing from pinging since the highflow went on, so I've been almost living the NA life for 9 months now! Injectors are recently in hand. AFM is in hand. Dyno is fixed. Just need to clear a queue of f**king Supras out of the way (and probably fit my new gearbox). So....some time this year? Lol.
    • For what I gather is a Sunday/summer car....braided is fine. You're not going to be left without a vehicle and you have plenty of time for inspection/maintenance. Oof. I wouldn't use them that way. They can probably handle the temperature** but the internal corrugations means that their flow characteristics are a bit shit. Lots of extra friction and pressure loss. Makes them flow like the next pipe size down. ** They are stainless, and the stainless can usually be at least something like 304L, which is pretty good at higher temperatures (unlike 316L, which I would use for a wrt/corrosive environment, but not a particularly hot environment). But the welding needs to be top notch. And even then, because you usually need at least one cone-seat end on them (because you can twist the hose and do up both ends at the same time unless one of them is a union) they can be prone to coming loose with heat cycles.
