5k, for 5k youwould be running easy every day 12s and still have a gearbox to boot. well in an r32 at least. in an r33, high flow your standard turbo, hybrid front mount kit, and ecu is about 5k in total and if your not a total gimp at drag racing you should be into the 12s and munch wrxs in the real world. (60-120+)

I fitted my turbo on Sat, and was not intending to say or post anything... but puckish has let the cat out of the bag and opened a can of worms... just to clarify....

1. i have spent no where near 5K. turbo brand new cost me 1200 and exhaust was on car when i bought it (so estimate 1500)

2. r33 with hi flows and ecu + front mounts still not doing 12's consistantly. The only one who seems to have cracked it once was Macka. Either every r33 driver is a hack(which I dont think so) or hi flow + ecu + fmic just doesnt cut it.

At a total cost of 800( link ecu) + 1200 (turbo) + 500 (tune) = $2500 i hope to run confortably into the 12's.. so your theory od chopping wrx's goes out the window :D

But theory mean sweetf*ck all, so in the next few weeks I hope to be heading down for some runs and hopefully(fingers crossed) some proof.

Until then I will shut my hole and wait.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

but you said high 12s/low 13s?? which is not a solid & consistent 12 either.

take most 13 second R33 gtsts, slap a set of micky-ts on them and launch at 5-6,000. I think there'd be a few 12 second runs here and there.

This thread has so become a my dick is bigger than yours argument.

Zanga agreed - and my dick is bigger than yours ;->

Adrian - Huge difference.... remarkable. I had to put the stock ecu in because my link was tuned for small turbo and ran like shit. But still goes suprising well, even with the massive overfuelling.

Adrian would be happy to take you for a spin.......

There is a place in Malga..... MTQ i think there called. Engineering place i believe...... they sell turbos, and if yu pay cash give you great deals. We bought two it was 1099 plus GST. So 1200 in total. You might want to see if they sell garrett.... they do sell direct to public if you pay cash.

Daniel

If we comparing cars, then surely comparing a WRX with 4WD vs. a GTS-t with RWD is pointless. That's why the WRX vs. GTR is much more relevant. And while the GTR is running 12's there's not much chance of needing a replacement blox like the WRX.

Both are great cars, but I'll have the GTR any day:D

Which used to be Peter Fyfe of Dynamic Turbo fame but was taken over by MTQ.

Man at the front is Eric but he always sounds like he want's to kill someone( usually one of the lackeys out the back )

Had the R terbs done there and no complaints so far....

PS , if the above convo and my name is mentioned I will disavow all knowledge and then come and kill you. Hehehe

Cheers

If there is r33s with hi flows and front mounts and ecus not running 12s, well thats either shows shit tuning or driving. and i said 60-120 which is most real world street runs around about. I can even imagine the / was in a proper plex drag with a very low 13 second wrx, He ate me out of the hole, but into 3rd and beginning of 4th i was easily out accellerating him to just pip him at the line, hense more horsepower, which is the topic you posted.

This has sadly turned into a debate on how it's cheaper to mod a wrx and that skylines are a waste of time to mod.. :P

Makes me wonder why I bothered to try to list all the mods I could think of in the earlier pages......

Still a good car and most importantly not a WRX.

My two pet hates are WRXs and Commonwhores,i don't now how many people have seen my cards and ads as they have both of these shit boxes on them as my Advertising guy did it to stir me up. Nissan or Mercs or nothing, must be a sucker for a GTR badge

(Skyline GTR or CLK GTR)but the GTS-X will have to do for now.

Funnily enough Steve my mechanic has said to me that the two biggest sets of wanker drivers in the world are firstly Porsche drivers and secondly WRX drivers. < Dan dont kill me they are his words and dont reflect how i feel.

But its just funny how a lot of mechanics seem to think this (not meaning to turn it into a mud slinging match either) .......

I knew this thread would turn into a mudslinging match.. hehehe...

"This thread has so become a my dick is bigger than yours argument"

"agreed - and my dick is bigger than yours "

:bahaha:

oi i didnt say it - besides i was looking at a WRX before i bought my line. But i do agree that a 4wd cant be compared to a 2wd ..... a R33 and a WRX ..... well an R33 is sometimes at least 5 years older .... so its like comparing apples to oranges .... they are both fruit but you just cant compare them to each other!!

    • Out here E90s are the cheapest way into a sporty-ish car because everyone knows just how expensive the repairs can get. 8-10k USD for an automatic 335i.
    • Noted. Have noticed BMW are more 'high maintenance' for sure. They've attracted my attention as I think the used car prices seem reasonable vs other options, and the extra quality overall vs a commodore / camry / corolla or similar of the same vintage is appealing, especially the interior, and they are more on the sporty side whereas the others mentioned can be more cruising or economical A-to-B only.
    • Haha yeah I know, this is SAU after all, why are we talking about BMW's of all things!? I hear you on the 'don't have to worry about it' side of things. Having been fortunate enough to be have been able to buy a brand new motorbike or two...never really enjoyed them as much as I'd have liked as you worry so much about where you park it, will it get scratched, stolen, attempted theft, knocked over, etc...and yes dirty. Older less valuable bikes you can just go where you want and park it wherever and not really worry that much in comparison. And who cares if it gets dirty! Never owned a V8, and have had my eyes on VE / VF commodores for years but with their prices climbing so high, the M3 has come into focus more as prices are much closer than I've ever seen...is it a potential contender now?...of course need to factor in the S65 'maintenance' especially and like you said general M car 'tax'. One can dream anyway. But more on the reality front - did read the whole 330i thread as well and was a great read too, both threads enlightening as I've never even driven one of these cars! I do recall 330i didn't seem to have the same amount of issues for almost the same car (turbos and related differences notwithstanding)...perhaps down to getting it earlier in it's life so looked after better than the 335i? Perhaps so as your 130i has been good and quite similar, so finding a car that's been looked after well is the especially-crucial-BMW-first-step.
    • Nice. Dont worry about the time of not running. My current skyline hasn't run since I bought it. About 8 years ago.
    • It's also worth noting that I am heavily and unconditionally biased. I've had a lot of cars including some GTRs a fair while ago. I love my BMW's now a lot. They make no sense a lot of the time and the guys on here remind me regularly that I could get something else that does what I want better and cheaper. If you're going to take on an older BMW it's definitely a commitment. If you bail on it early you'll lose money and also the ability for it to put a smile on your face. Stick with it and it just gets better.  f**k I should get into advertising.
