Short story is I had a very shithouse start to the year which involved my R32 hugging a power pole. Got the call today saying its a write off :O

There's a few things on it that are worth a fair bit of money that I wasn't covered for. Mainly the R33 gearbox and manual conversion and HKS Hypermax 2 suspension. There's also a good $1000 worth of tyres on it as well that have only done 5000km.

For those that have written off a car and bought it back, was it worth the effort?

Also, was it hard to get rid of the shell once you were done?

depends on wat your next project is going to be really and how many people out there want your parts. once the car is stripped and everything that you dont want is gone or wateva check out the papers or net for someone that picks up wrecks for scrap metal. and if you find one that will give you money thats another bonus

i bought mine back as you know... made my money back and some... but i've got a house and shed full of crap, and it took me a few months worth of weekends to strip it all down myself.

i rang up some scrap metal company who came and took the wreck for free as well.

oh Matt, so sorry to hear about your car  were you hurt at all? Hope you are ok!

Worst thing about buying back the wreck is the months it takes to sell the stuff, and the indecisiveness of people. Oh and the 'I can get it for this price at this wrecker or on ebay'

Like mitchy said, we have a spare room full of R33 interior and half the shed space is taken up by dirty bits and pieces from the exterior. I just wish it was all gone :P

Deffinately worth keeping all the bits you want though.

How much have they said its worth to buy back, do you know?

Damn that sucks Matt, hope you're okay!

As said it depends how much the wreck can be had for, and what you want to keep (if you do) & want to sell, and if you can get the money back for it.

PS a mate of mine with an R32 would be interested in the R33 box if you do buy it back
