Just thought it would be good to share with my fellow fabricators my custom long split dumps for my GTR.

Basically i though f**k paying almost a grand for trust extended dump and front kit, ill make my own!

In a nutshell, I started off with some Just Jap stainless dumps, chopped the gates off and extended them, welded up the holes in the main pipes where the gates used to plumb back in.

I bought some stainless 1.5 inch mandrel bends and chopped and used those to make the gates.

Im no expert welder with the mig, but by the end of doing these i wasnt too shabby...(being modest)...thats why i grinded back most of

the welds cos they looked shit haha. My flange weld isnt too bad cos that was the final bit...

Did a bit of test fitting with a spare block and head...bloody tight fit it was...

brilliant. I was just about to start on exactly this job since they've just change our race regulations to free exhaust systems. We'll run similar setup except keep front and rear turbo exhaust seperate as well - so 4 pipes straight out the side.

the thing that worries me most is clearance putting the motor in since ours comes in and out all the time  and physical space for the pipes, especially the front one.

what diameter is the wastegate pipe? 1inch?

I bought some stainless 1.5 inch mandrel bends and chopped and used those to make the gates.

Duncannnn!

nice pipes. never been a big fan of the HKS style dumps as they have 2 pretty small pipes. I'm converted to the big bell mouth dump which lets the gas expand as much as possible as quickly as possible, but yours look like they will work well. :D

    • More than happy with the colour match Talking to the painter he recommended to give the top a few weeks for the paint to 100% cure prior to sealing it with the ceramic stuff Also, because why not..... I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in

    • Hell yeah. It's not as if the path from front to rear is particularly squirrelly or otherwise difficult.
    • Hard line it, you will be thankful later on, if you car had hicas, use that as your return.
