Another Recall For The Ve

Well if every manufacturer got it right the first time, than we would have no reason to discuss recalls would we? But the fact is it does happen.

I wonder what the reaction would be if this happened to Nissan? Doubt it would though, because Nissans are the greatest cars ever built, that never have any problems. *cough*

It is fuel you get it right or it goes bang no 2 ways about it you get it right its not like the door handles dont work or the windown dont work its fuel get it right.

Well i havent heard of a recall from Nissan in a long time and if it is its just piisy shit like windows or doors.

If your gona bag out nissan then why do you own half of one

Probably because I like the VL? Infact I don't hate Nissan (Why the f**k else would I say the RB30 is the best engine Holden never built under my Av?) I'm just in the mood, for a stir.

I've been thinking to changing it to best 6 cylinder engine never built, as I love Holden V8s.

Might do that now actually.

haha these threads shit me... why all the hatred?

Its not that the car 'sucks', it is just a car that is not up to the quality of japanese and european manufacturers. The car is still of decent build quality though. I think they have done a decent job considering the market is only really 20 million in AUS (market is increasing slightly overseas).

What do you expect from a company that does not have the same amount of resources and money to spend on developing a world class car...

yes, holden have had another recall on the VE. this time it is to do with dodgy fuel lines causing engine bay fires.

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/hol...9554571414.html

they had a similar problem with the v8 within 2 months of it being released.

"I'm ready to goooooo!"

Isn't that the lyrics to the song that was and still is played on Commo commercials?

Lol

It's nice to see someone who doesn't carry the typical "Holdens are shit" attitude, for a change.

If only all the Holden drivers are the same... I absolutely hate Holden purely because of the attitude of many of the scumbags that drive them - not all, but many.

Well same would go for skylines.... there are plenty of tossers who drive them like complete wankers, so why don’t you hate them?

Scumbags are everywhere driving every car, sure you get a lot of bogans driving Holdens but it’s probably because they grew up with Holdens around them. Being an aussie built car and having a large number of cars on the road due to their popularity, you are going to get a lot of Holden drivers.

If Nissan sold as many skylines domestically as Holden did, i'm sure the tables would turn and everyone would hate skylines as much as some people hate Holdens (and Fords for that matter).

You probably get the exact same 'ratio' of scum driving skylines, but obviously on much lesser scale. There are probably a million more Holdens on the road... so if 1 in 10 drivers are scum, Holden would have 100,000 scum drivers (out of a million) where as skylines probably have 2000 drivers (out of 20,000). That would be why it 'seems' there are so many wankers driving Holdens.

No, it sounds like you hate the people more than the actual cars.

Yes there are "scumbags" that drive Holdens, but there are "scumbags" that drive Imports too. In most cases are actually worse.

Plain fact is that holdens are cheap as f**k,so any bum can buy one with centrelink money and enough for a goonbag, where as you need to be classy enough and have some kind of reasonable job to own a skyline.

lol now thats funny new commy about 35 g r33 start around 10 g under your thinking all the doleies would be driving skylines or maybe you have had one sip too many from ya goonbag

Hahahaha now that's funny. Reasonable job to own a Skyline?

Skylines aren't that expensive, unless it's something like a GTR. I'm sorry, but if you think you need a reasonable job to afford a average Skyline please jump off a cliff, and make sure you land head first on the rocks below.

I have also never heard of anyone saying you need to be classy enough to own a Skyline. God maybe you should buy a Merc or something.

    • Well I had 2 choices from then on. I either had to (reluctantly) move it on to another potential buyer and take the loss on the chin. Or I stick with it and turn it into a restoration project. I chose the latter. Project Snowstorm began! The frp body kit was the first thing to go. Turns out the original colour used to be silver. The Neo and gearbox were removed, along with the prop and exhaust system before it took a trip to the bodyshop, where I wouldn’t see it again for quite some time due to the pandemic hitting very soon after they took it away. Eventually, progress began and damage assessments made. Even the front chassis leg was in pretty bad shape!     Then the chopping commenced. For these guys it was just usual routine, to me it looked absolutely terrifying!   More to follow as I’m struggling to focus on my screen at 12:45 am!!!
    • That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard. I would go cut bellhousing over that monstrosity of a flywheel all day, every day. It puts a lot more mass further from the last main bearing. I've had nothing but problems with Collins in the past and refuse to ever buy their products again. I would not trust anything they tell you. He's playing his salesman card.  I'm currently at 640whp on a mustang dyno (~770bhp) with the intentions of running E85 and a lot more power this upcoming spring. Cheers,
    • Nah, it's not the reduced knock margin. It is a direct mechanical effect of having to initiate the combustion earlier, while the piston is still rising, which starts to exert combustion pressure on the rising piston earlier, making the rest of the engine work harder to finish driving the piston up to TDC where the combustion pressure stops being a negative and starts being a positive. Your modern engine that only needs ~10° to make MBT doesn't waste the other 10 or so degrees of crank rotation. That's almost all of it. The difference in knock margin might go either way. Remember that modern engines to which you are currently comparing the long tractor engine (the RB) are now running super high compression, direct injection, tricky cam control and maybe even cylinder pressure sensors. You're not comparing apples with other fruit. It's apples and sea weed, or some other evolutionarily primitive vegetation. And remember, squish only really comes into play at the very end of the stroke. It certainly does good things, but it is not the biggest contributor to what's going on. It is quite possibly much less important in 4 valve head than 2 valvers also, because there is so much less squish available to a 4 valve anyway.
    • Food for thought, a longer stroke motor would need less ignition timing vs. a shorter stroke motor requiring more ignition timing.
    • Thanks Duncan, HART is only 10 mins from me (I did my bike license there), it'd be awesome if it ran these types of things.  Sutton Road does look good and they take fewer cars than SMSP which is good.  Surely you have enough land to lay a few million tonnes of concrete and some sprinklers D?
