hey all i just had my r32 dynoed at hyperdrive, when i bought it i was told it had about 299rwhp with a miss, i wasnt sure so i took it to hyperdrive this mourning with spitfire coils and only pulled 265.9rwhp at 14psi, the boost was all over the place, the guy at hyperdrive told me the hks 2540 wont really do anybetter than that :domokun: so anyway im gonna get a new turbo, any suggestions where to take it or what turbo to get??

cheers

I had my car tuned this morning at Hyperdrive, its got a GT3082R with similar mods as urself. i went 330rwhp @ 16psi through a built auto box. had fuel issues so i could prob see 340 - 350 once sorted. i would go with the GT30 series ... they are not too laggy when tuned right, mine is very responsive and makes power through 7300rpm, pulls very, very hard =D

+ if yours is manual you would prob see closer to 380rwhp

and im sure yours would beat these apparent stockers making 260rwhp+ on 12psi, dont believe that for a second.

260rwhp isn't too much of a stretch.. my 20 with the 25 turbo made 245rwhp on the same dyno and my 30 with the 25 turbo made 243rwhp on the same dyno again, both at 12psi (different days account for the 2hp loss ) my mate has his 33 dyno'd at some place SOR and it made 296rwhp with stock turbo.. THAT is a stretch.. VERY happy dyno there!

i recommend the HKS GT-RS i think brand new from www.greenline.jp is 2.5k give or take...i've been in [Michael]s car and damn its responsive and powerful hahah or even the Trust TD06-25g or 20g but i would go the HKS because its coolant and oil cooled the Trust turbos are only oil cooled also the Garret GT30 series they good to hehe :P

lol thanks

if you got the cash go for the hks kits as they are bolt on and comes with everything you need or else just get a garret gt30 series turbo(everyone seems to like the 35r)

Dude i have a GT35R on my FJ20'd DR30 that makes 330rwhp @ 16psi and 355@ 19psi so I opt for the Garret, go to horsepowerinabox.com, they have direct replacement GT series turbo's for Nissan engines for just under the 2k mark.

P.S. The DR will lay SERIOUS rubber down in 3rd :}

I've heard those bolt on GT series use dodgy exhaust housings.. you can get a brand new GT35R for around ~$1800 *paid (1600 for mine but they were special circumstances). A lot of fab. work to be done though.. ;)

Well he either needs to find another tuner (I like Hyperdrive and they do all my tuning, but they said his turbo is maxing out) or look at another setup.

He did ask about other turbos, I was merely pointing out that there are bigger options and that I've heard bad things about the horsepowerinabox turbos that use standard exhaust housings whereas real Garrett items don't.

+ if yours is manual you would prob see closer to 380rwhp

and im sure yours would beat these apparent stockers making 260rwhp+ on 12psi, dont believe that for a second.

380, let's not go too far!

But 260hp on 12psi is quite easy for a stock RB25

Are you 100% sure its a hks 2540?

Yeah, check that out first ;)

haha yeah 250 is not too bad, i had a redtop 20 with 25 turbo makin 240rwhp @ 11psi, but 270rwhp @ 12 psi i cant see happening unless its a freak lol

He has an RB25, not RB20 :)

yeah, i would be having doubts its actually a 2540 (given the tune is ok).

if its HKS, it should be marked on the front cover with HKS shouldnt it?

I'd be checking too.

On the top of the shaft, in between the compressor and exhaust sides HKS stamp the model on the little silver label.

:O just had a better look with the torch to find the GARRETT on the turbo, did the 25 come stock with a garret turbo? i shall be visiting the guy who sold it to me now :P ... well its an excuse to get a new turbo anyway

if it has garret written on the front it aint stock because the stock rb25 turbos have nissan (eg:http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid218/pdaf6db9e994775671341d8e5f6208cf4/ec08caf8.jpg) so if it was a gt2540 you could easily tell because hks would be written on it somewhere...

tru, well so i have a garrett something, il probly take it in somewhere tomrow to see if they can tell me what it is... F#&KN Pi$$ed off tho, im gonna go see the guy who sold it to me and work something out

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
