Anybody recommend somewhere online to get a dips belt (to hang weights from)? Planet Max here in Canberra is only place I've checked, and the only one they stock is $59 (probs ok, but steep until I know what's average)

sounds reasonable

i'd be more interested to know where you can get chains like these

I found some chains here:

But you would be bankrupt (and amazingly strong) by the time you looked like your above post.

if you want chains just go to your local boat shop, or even a fishing shop. you can get some pretty decent size chains (anchor chain, they sell it by the metre and it's cheap), and they are usually glavanised so sweat shouldn't be an issue rusting them, LOL.

still not a bad investment considering you can use em for dips, curls etc

Ehh if you reckon that's reasonable then fair enough, tomorrow ill grab one ;)

here you go http://www.worldfitness.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=557 seems to be the running cost for em

hmmm hadn't thought of that...

i've checked out hardware stores only but they don't really have the right size/weight

you just need a weight belt and a short length of chain or rope... better than chains IMO as you can hang different size plates from it and be pretty specific about what weight your lifting... you also don't have to lug weight to and from the gym just a belt

then you can use the weight belt for squats/deads etc... if you just get a dip belt you can really only use it for dips/pull ups

So you reckon get a support belt or whatever they are (for heavy lifts) and then just hang a rope from that with the plates on it? hmm, double use I suppose.

I meant the exact type of thing someone linked in response to me - the belt with chain that you hang plates from anyway. It only has a single use though, doesn't provide support if I wanted to use it with deadlifts or something

Either way, I'm gonna rock on over to planet max today and see what I'll get

$20-$30

But I'd be going with Nick's idea...don't see the point in having a different belt just for that when a normal belt with a chain will do the same thing

I just put them between my thighs and lock my ankles..

I always wanted a belt, but couldnt justify spending $x for one excercise. Now I do multiple excercises which could utilise a belt, but still couldnt justify.. lol.

arent u a clever boy! lol wish i thought of that before i brought my dips belt now... i got a leather one on ebay i do like it though and get alot of use..

how many of u guys actually use a weight belt for deadlifts and squats for your back our of curiosity? and how much weight would you want to be able to dead lift before using one do you think?

I can't claim the idea, there is a weight belt at my gym setup like that... I only use the belt for weighted dips/pull ups... I have never used a belt for squats/deads etc

no idea when you should look at using one... I'm still under 200% bodyweight on those lifts so not sure I need to use one yet... and I don't do 1rm

I went to the gym at lunch today, gym is too packed after work... think I'm going to make lunch sessions a regular thing... I can't get up early enough to go before work lol

    • For something like this, I'd skip just going for the cheapest, I'd find the place with the best experiences people have had, especially for restoration work. Like everything, there is upholsterers, and then there is upholsterers. Some really great upholsterers for automotive restos won't even appear to have an online presence.   My guide would be find some of the old school classic cars that have been fully restored and are immaculate, and ask the people who own them who did the work on their seats
    • Might be tricky matching the seat trim material  If your got the funds you "may" want to get the rear re-trimed as well to match the front
    • How much is it to re-uploster?  Well that's a "how longs a piece of string?" question !  And I answer thusly: "twice half its length! " . . . . . .  Seriously you'll have to chase multiple quotes for that one from different uphlostrerereres !  Ask around, in your area and on the forums, chase reviews and most of all see the finished product in person cause photoshop is a wonderful thing !
