According to the calorie counter app I'm dicking around with, I've been getting nearly 400g of protein most days I've bothered recording. Dafuq that's easier than I though it would be!

Not enough carbs though, but meh I'm still around the 3000cal or more mark per day not including the few small things I might have that are too difficult to enter so I don't bother. It recommends 2130cal for maintenance with no exercise so it should be fine. My weight has gone back up a touch to ~74.5kg so all G.

what app do you use troy and how do you enter the foods in? from actual measurements or just guesses?

also in all seriousness, has anyone actually tried Alburtrex?

I have heard both good and bad things about it and its effects.

It's called "myfitnesspal", it's got a whole database of foods in it, like everything you could imagine. Also has a barcode scanner feature. Some things are difficult to work out how much you're actually eating, otherwise it's pretty good. Unfortunately I believe its database relies on public submissions, so you'll find some inaccuracies.

I've got Albuterex now. Got it REALLY cheap, so I figured why the hell not give it a shot. Didn't expect much, and rightly so lol. It's pretty much just a pre-trainer. Loads of caffeine and some other random stims. I don't think it would do much for weight loss short of being a diuretic. Definitely not worth the RRP that's for sure! Personally, I'm kinda blaming it for horrific indigestion I get during workouts...but not definitively. On the plus side, it tastes pretty decent when you water it down plenty...but for the price if you really need to get a pre-trainer kinda supp look elsewhere.

400g of protein are you sure? That only leaves 1600 cals for fats and carbs. They say 1-2g fats per kg so assuming you're getting the minimum fats that only leaves you with about 180g carbs a day.

If it were me I would recommend dropping that protein intake by half and upping carbs/fats, but hey that's just my advice... you can do whatever the F*** you wanna do.

Yeah it seems my fats and carbs are likely a bit low haha, only hovering around the 200g carbs per day mark...which is odd since over the last 2 months I've only really cut out my former 1L of full cream milk and large bowl of cereal I used to have every day. I was making steady lean mass gains without putting on too much fat while always feeling full of energy (bar whenever my sleep was shithouse) so I was happy with my diet previously...

I do agree however, I could definitely do with a bit more carbs right now. I'm feeling a bit down on energy lately. Kinda sick of brown rice too, though last couple of days I've been hitting the oats pretty hard.

Also I didn't actually realise my protein intake was that high. I'm not actually trying to get it around 400g/day, it just happens to be there from what I'm eating lately apparently....and given I'm enjoying my current diet enough and am satisfied with results (bar lack of energy from carbs) I'm not necessarily gonna cut it back heaps, maybe just slightly rework it.

Thanks for the advice anyway though mate ;)

400g protein/day for Troy who weighs 75kg works out to be 5.3g of Protein per kg of bodyweight, I'll leave the commenting to others...

I think we're missing the point that I haven't actually AIMED for this amount, I am not excessively supplementing to achieve this amount (have been having ~1-2 scoops of WPI or casein each day max), and I'm getting this figure based on a free calorie counting application with god knows what accuracy.

My breakfasts have consisted of a 1 cup of egg whites and a few short cut bacon rashers, small bowl oats w/ skim milk. 2nd meal of the day has been 1.5 cups chicken breast mince w/ brown rice. 3rd meal is 1.5 cups chicken breast mince w/ steamed broccoli/cauliflower/carrot. Dinner is 500g steak with a buttload of salad. Desert/after dinner has either been that retarded casein/yoghurt thing or a single scoop of WPI/casein with water before bed.

There will occasionally yet rarely be a WPI shake during the day, occasionally I will snack on some walnuts, otherwise the only thing on top of the above are 2 or maybe 3 coffees with skim milk and no sugar.

That's it.

Apparently 500g of rump steak has like 110g protein according to the app, for example. I've had this for dinner 4 times over the past 6 days.

Tell me if the app is giving me a ludicrous figure from this info. Either way, it "works" for me so I fail to see the problem here, even if it is WAY too much.

Pretty much just the Creation of glucose from sources other than carbs eg protein

So really my apparent excessive protein intake isn't the end of the world like it's being made out to be?

Your gut sounds soft.... I'd put it on a strict diet of squats to harden it the f**k up

lmao!

f**kn love it :)

enjoying getting back to the gym.

will be trying hard to not let it lose out to Uni studies again next year, but for now, 14 weeks to get into it

4-5x a week means its going to be an enjoyable summer; legs - you gonna suffa!

You don't undergo gluconeogenesis all the time, it's a metabolic response brought on by high stress situations to spare blood glucose and glycogen.

I would say a fair bit of your 400gms is coming out in your pee as urea/ammonia.

No worries brah, wasn't having a go :D Out of curiosity how much money are you spending a week on all that?

Sounds about right for 500g piece uncooked, I think there are a lot of people on bb.com that use that app, should be alright. We're not trying to say it won't work either but it's just unnecessary and probably costing you quite a bit, but that's up to you I guess.

No idea how much I spend lol, but not that much given I bought 4.5kg of chicken breast mince for about $47 last Saturday and it's almost finished now. Rice is negligible. Steaks have been a total of maybe $25 for the 2kg I've eaten since I only buy that shit when it's on clearance. WPI and casein prices would also be negligible since I've barely consumed any of it. Oh, egg whites are like $5 for 980ml or nearly 4 breakfasts worth. Might eat like 750g of bacon through the week, and it's like $11/kg.

Not counting coffees or anomalies, under $100. Significantly less than I used to spend, even moreso than when I lived with the missus. Fine by me.

I'm the only one that noticed the Hodgetwins quote?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a few cooked chickens over the course of the week?

How much are cooked chickens these days? (unaware 19 year old is unaware..... parents shop, I eat)

On another note, what does chicken breast mince taste like? Sounds a bit odd.

I'm not quite as big of an ectomorph you boys are, plus I'd eat the majority of it in one sitting.

Otherwise they're usually $10 each at Coles. Probably cheaper, taste better, bit quality would go downhill a bit.

Chicken breast mince is just boring. Tastes like plain chicken breast funnily enough :P it's a little bit dry, but otherwise I get it because it's gonna be lower on fat than generic supermarket shit, you actually know what part of the chicken went into it (no f**king cartilage etc), and it's actually not much more expensive than Woollies chicken mince - if at all more.

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
