Birds it has been ages since I have posted here but hope you are ok; summary of what happened?

I'm alright buddy...supraspinatus has gone spastic on account of me ignoring my ratchety shoulder (no pain, just clicking) and persisting with heavy pressing movements. Made it through 2 reps of 107.5kg on bench just fine, but a 60kg warm up on incline press and my shoulder instantly started hurting / collapsed on itself. Came on here and whinged about the pain / not being able to lift my arm above my neck or across body. On anti inflammatories which are helping greatly; went for ultrasound today to find out if it's more serious than just a jammed supraspinatus (the shoulder equivalent of accidentally biting your lip/cheek). I suspect it is, because of the clicking sound that predated and predisposed the supraspinatus injury. Oops that was meant to be a summary.

The good news is my legs are fine, so I can squat to my heart's content.

P.S. nice legs...I have similar adductors but nowhere near the quad size lol.

Fair enough mate. Hope all goes well

Cheers! I want to bench press more than anything right now :(

Was so close to my PB weights too :(

Fark it, I'm coming back stronger next time.

You spun your Supra?

Seriously though, sorry to hear that mate. My shoulders have been so locked up of late it's affecting my pressing and other exercises. I've got very tight shoulders and am more than a bit concerned of something like that happening if I don't take care of it.

Might be cortisone injections etc to come? Shoulder joints are such fragile bastards it shits me. I have taken to starting boulder day with 'lucky cats' and other rotator cuff movements but I'm not sure if it's actually doing anything atm.

Thanks for the leg comments

Tell me about it...

God/evolution...y u put strong muscles on fragile joints?!

Injury is part and parcel with heavy lifting though. It's not a given, but you play the game of odds everytime you push your limits...and no one likes going backwards...so sooner or later something is going to give way, be it a fault in technique or predisposition to injury because you drunk arm wrestled on the weekend. Rev gave me some good exercises to strengthen all the little shoulder muscles, so I look forward to doing them during/post rehab. Ironic really, that compound movements are supposed to be the foundation builders and now I need isolation movements to better support the compounds

God_speed: wow nice legs.

Thanks Leesh! :P

Well they are an incredible piece of design hey. It's an amazing joint, but it makes me think of a gearbox - great complex piece of engineering but often the weak point when youre putting down some serious power

I've been pretty fortunate with injuries in my relatively short semi-serious lifting life of about 8 years

Me too - not that I lift big by industry standards, but still pushing my personal limits. I've had about 2 or 3 niglets that I've been able to just work/push through and had them go away, over the last 10 years or so. This is the first serious one!

Chin up Birds, it's shit but most of us have been there. I've had some decent soft tissue injuries along the way that slowed me down/stopped me cold for long periods. I started out at 65kg when I first lifted a weight and was a desk jockey who hadn't played any decent sport since high school.

Through all of that I got up to mid 90kg's, but as mentioned that was not without injury and set back. The good thing about injuries, from my point of view at least, is that they teach you new things about your body, new ways to do things, how to improve movements, better appreciation for what you had, etc. Almost always, the people with the right attitude, which will be most of us here, will come back stronger over time.

If it helps, this is what I did in October... And yes, that is beyond 90 degrees clockwise rotation about the ankle joint. Ruptured most things and spiral fractured the Fib.

The diastasis screw (the big one) was removed but everything else remains. I was told it would be a solid year before I could even consider running again and prior to this I was covering at least 100k's a month on foot, not heaps but decent for me as I've never been much of a runner.

I'm already back to light jogging and have done a few 3k runs without too much issue (beyond swelling) because I wanted to get back into it and have been working hard on the rehab side. I also spent a bit of time sitting to do my gym work and come to realise how weak my back/core was. So now I've started on squats, DL, SLDL, rows etc to get my legs and back/shoulders strong, which I wasn't doing before so in the end I should wind up stronger and better than I was, granted with a slightly deformed ankle and a need to pay attention to it, but that's no different to any other decent injury you have.

You'll be fine soon enough :)

Haha, yeah the boys at paintball weren't stoked to see it. A few of them walked away when I attempted to put it back in place thinking it was just a dislocation, got it back to about 30 degrees but it was jamming against the bottom of the Tib, once I got into hospital and jumped up on the bed it flopped back to 90+ lol

The worst of it was that it occurred during a bucks day, of which I was the best man and I spent the night in hospital after having surgery =\

He was doing chestybrah presses and he bruised his vagina..... basically. :D

It's ok man.. there is one in May too.

    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
