Are you his partner or just defending him?

Bare in mind I have no idea who most people are here or how you all know each other.

Most of my SAU comrades/FB Friends are from the Melb crew of DECA drivers who have drank heavily with me in Shepparton.

I'd agree it wasn't "necessary", but in the purist sense of the word, not how I think you mean it.

Make no mistake, I find TTTs cynicism highly amusing, and I'd of thought the emoticon was enough to convey that it was said in jest.

Given what he dishes out, I'm sure he'll still sleep tonight.

Back on topic.

Has anyone here gone out and bought a specific "gym" shirt?

As in something that dries quickly and doesn't hold the odour after being washed.

EDIT: Anyone familiar with Under Armour shirts, they seem to target sports/gym specifically.

I just wear whatever to the gym, no matter how sweaty I get it's never held the odour o.O generally I just rock up after work and swap my pants for some basketball shorts. I always wear polo shirts to work (or T-shirts on Fridays) so they're appropriate enough for a workout.

Your mind must be weaker than your body until you trigger that then.

Or maybe my mind is stronger than anyone who DOESN'T attempt the second rep? I don't even understand what you're getting at, or why for that matter.

I replied to something you said, that's what it's getting at.

If you think you can only get 1 rep out, then do 2, how is your mind stronger up until that point? It's thinking only 1 is possible until you tell yourself, no, 2, my body can do 2.

(compared to someone who thinks they can do 1 more, which means they could only do 1 more)

IMO its harder to stop short to achieve your goal than it is to push to failure.

dont you train at home? with yourself?

Plus I thought you'd be happy TTT, squats first and for more reps than anything else, not a single curl in sight, all compound movements.

There's just no pleasing some people!

I feel sorry for your partner, he/she must have a hard time living up to your standards ;p;

ok.. I'm at work so have plenty of time to reply..

First part of your post said:

Had my first session with the rack last night, it's different, added some weight to squats, bench, RDL and row, nothing much just an extra kg or two here and there as that's how the plate config came out

Says nothing about more reps.

it was 2 lines and it said it was different, you did some exercises and that you did an extra kilo or 2..

Then you said:

A few things I noticed. As I've been trying to move away from curling like a bro, I've been really keen to get the chin up bar and did chin ups (or whatever they are called with an underhand shoulder width grip - pull ups?) and didn't find that I felt like my biceps got much out of it certainly not as much pump after exercising, maybe at the top of the motion with some explicit contraction but otherwise not much and it's mostly in the upper lats I feel it today.

Also, used the dip bars instead of doing weighted bench (spa) dips and didn't feel like my triceps got much out of that either, to be fair my bench dips were sets of 30 because I could only fit 11-12kg in my pockets lol and the actual dips were just 3 sets of 8 but I just expected more burn on the triceps and if anything felt it more across the shoulder girdle, I think I need a belt for chin ups and dips to get some weight in there asap.

Am I wasting time doing chin ups and dips if my main goal there is to try and get some decent bi's and tri's during a compound motion? I want to stick to purely compound stuff where possible for efficiency and max calorific burn

3 paragraphs about your bicep and tricep thoughts.

talked about specific weight and reps and sets, the feel of it etc etc.

lol

If you are doing squats to please me you might as well give up now.

People say "if you want bigger arms go an do squats".

Do you understand why?

It's not cause it has direct bicep activation.

it's because it is a hard exercise which causes the biggest impact on your entire body.

The bigger the impact, the bigger the regeneration/recovery your body needs and therefore grows.

For your arm measurement to grow 1inch, you need to add about 7kg of muscle to your frame.

which means you need food right?

Which exercise between feel-da-burn-curls and squats do you think will help cause enough of a impact on the body to require all the food you will need to eat?

One contracts and relaxes a muscle the size of your fist (if you're lucky) and the other contracts and relaxes like 90% of your entire body.

TL:DR, if you are going to write 2 lines about not being a brocurler, then 3 paragraphs about not feeling the burn or pump in your arms, don't expect me to respond in a different way then I have.

My wife does Pilates and yes I call her names for doing so.

LOL I love you man, I really do, you crack me up.

No homo? Nah, ALL the homo.

Anyway, point taken. I think having had small arms for so long it has become a bit of a subconscious obsession.

Didn't talk reps for the other stuff as nothing changed, only major changes were the little bit of extra weight as mentioned and the amount of reps on those bro exercises.

I've heard about the must gain x to get an extra inch stuff , makes sense to me.

I don't squat for broceps, I do it because I want my legs and back to be stronger and to help my ankle - and no not to make you love me - but I do enjoy talking shit and you tend to be solid at that.

We'll see how things are in 6mths or so.

Pilates.. lol my missus hates it. She's a prime candidate for squatting for sure, I'm working on it.

The trainer in my workshop was telling me about her back problems from working at a desk and how her chiro fixed them up for her. I said she should do deadlifts. She said she already does plenty of exercise, like yoga for 20 years.

    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
    • Connect all the plumbing up properly. The actual worst part about having the turbo unable to actually build boost, is you can and likely would over soon the turbo if you drove the car (free rev while stationary isnt likely to manage it).   If you do have an air leak as Duncan suggested, you'll have a bad time as the AFM will be saying different to reality.   As you have had the engine out, I'd go over all electrical connections again. If you have a consult cable, plug it in, and see what the ECU thinks is going on. Did you touch the timing belt? If so, double check your timing on the gears is correct AND put a timing light on it while it's idling and see what ignition setting you have. Is the AFM you've installed the one that was in the car previously? You said you replaced seals, what seals exactly? What have you had apart?   From memory when I had my RB25DET with factory throttle, there was two plugs the TPS plug on the loom could go to. One would leave the car running like shit, the other made it work, I think one plug on the TPS area was for something else (an option). It's too many years since I saw that part of the loom to remember properly though.   Is the car idling smooth (as smooth as an RB can)? Does it smell fuelled up?   I have a feeling either timing in timing belt is off, or a sensor isn't right.
    • Theres still skid pan and motokhana days up in QLD at least that are $100 or less. The ones that are ran as "driver training" less so, they're expensive, but just normal skid pan days like SAU ran are still low cost. And thats one of the places I learned to be a lariken, purely by asking for passenger rides, and how people were doing crazy things. Reese gave me plenty of pointers back in the day for skid pan! And yes Duncan, I will never forget your pointers for track work. Especially after Neil got out saying "I am NEVER getting in the car with him again!" 😛
    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
