My workout over the past few days in this holiday period using all the free time i can

Sunday:

4km Bike Ride in arvo

3.5km walk around the suburbs

3km run on the treadmill at the gym,

added on to that 9km bike to the gym and back

Monday:

3-4km Bike Ride Arvo

4km walk around the suburbs

3km run on the treadmill at the gym,

added on to that 9km bike to the gym and back

Today:

25km bike ride to the inner city Melbourne, taking the train back

3.5 walk around the burbs

planning to gym later biking it and back

I dropped 30kg with the following not fast mind you took over 18 months

5 times a week min 30 min exercise bike road about 12km in that time worked up to setting 6 out of 10

bike said this was 300 calories (to give you a idea) and was covered in sweat afterwards

was doing a "Russian power lifting" exercise 3 times a week squat bench power clean

only fast food was like fasta pasta and subway

switched to coke zero 10kg's in just this I think

the last 10kg's I had to switchthings up as I plateaued dropped the weights

morning tea and lunch to 1 small can of tuna (that was all) breakfast was 4 weetbix

dinner was anything fairly normal

I could have lost it faster by dropping the 1 large pizza on my cheat day

but the point is doing something you can maintain for a long time

think about how long it took you to be a fat dude

me at 102kg me at 82kg

I got down to 72kg like kissed 72kg but couldn't maintain it and do weights

so I'm back around 82 and thinking I need to add some cardio again

72kg photo of me in Japan eating some stuff as proof

and yes tuna taste like cardboard if you eat it enough washed it down with way to much coke zero

Solid effort was solid, great work. Done sensibly with changes that can be maintained.

This is exactly what larger people need to do, make lifestyle changes they can stick too.

Still ate your pizza, still had some coke etc.

Awesome results mate. Always good to see someone succeed using the basics where so many others fail.

So is that 1 hour of weights and 1 1/2 hours of socializing :P

nah we were basically rotating straight onto our next set (3 of us) so probably 1.5-2min break generally.. sore as right now but you're right would of liked it a little bit more intense - probably next time (one of the blokes kept talking hehe)

Needs moar deads and squats

They got many racks?

yeah heap of stuff there, i'll have to count the racks next time so many new and interesting machines mainly just enjoying the change of scenery - something different. They had speed channel up on the wall (projector) with rally and racing :D

genesis expires mid feb I think then I'll probably join up spartans.. like half the price.. only took like 10 minutes to get home too, like 20 to get there in peak hour. Join us birdman!

managed to give myself an insane headache yesterday from doing my squats - the symptoms appear to be that of an exertion headache, I guess I didn't realise just how much hotter it was in the gym. Had to cut my routine short, so hopefully no dramas with SLDL and bench today!

cbf extra 5 mins man and I might have a job in Knoxfield soon lol

All I need is a squat rack, a pull-up bar, a bench and some weights.

fair enough, yeah it would probably be a little bit far from your place I was thinking.

What job brah? nice and close to home if you get it.

Yeah 40c till Friday

Makes it a bit harder at the gym

Just want to go to the beach and relax instead

started working out when I got engaged in May 2010 as I didn't wanna be a fat dude in my wedding photo's 1 year later got down to 85kg's for the big day

Japan was April 2012 so its been a long road ( bit more than 18 months I thought lol)

most of my workouts are/were done between 10pm and 1am as its easy to find the time

them as really most of the time I was sitting round watching tv or playing ps3 now that I've got a little fella I've kept doing it then so I'm not stealing time from him or the wife

117.5kg single for an equal personal best, after 6 reps of 100kg on the previous set. Was a much easier feeling lift than I used to do it, too. 120 next session. Waiting for the bench plateau monster to kick in!

Might need to start a bench progress thread ala the deadlift/squat/pull-up threads.

120kg bench! New pb! 1.5x body weight! Hooray!

Huge milestone for me, as I could never get past 117.5kg during my pre-injury days. This was done after 100kg x 7, which is, incidentally, another pb (most reps I've done of 100kg).

Now here's the kicker: my last bench session, prior to this, had me benching only 60kg for max reps...just two sets (28, 22 reps). Then I come back tonight and break the 1RM pb. So question is, was the change up in weights/reps responsible for the new pb or was the break/rest from heavy weights beneficial...or both?

    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
    • Connect all the plumbing up properly. The actual worst part about having the turbo unable to actually build boost, is you can and likely would over soon the turbo if you drove the car (free rev while stationary isnt likely to manage it).   If you do have an air leak as Duncan suggested, you'll have a bad time as the AFM will be saying different to reality.   As you have had the engine out, I'd go over all electrical connections again. If you have a consult cable, plug it in, and see what the ECU thinks is going on. Did you touch the timing belt? If so, double check your timing on the gears is correct AND put a timing light on it while it's idling and see what ignition setting you have. Is the AFM you've installed the one that was in the car previously? You said you replaced seals, what seals exactly? What have you had apart?   From memory when I had my RB25DET with factory throttle, there was two plugs the TPS plug on the loom could go to. One would leave the car running like shit, the other made it work, I think one plug on the TPS area was for something else (an option). It's too many years since I saw that part of the loom to remember properly though.   Is the car idling smooth (as smooth as an RB can)? Does it smell fuelled up?   I have a feeling either timing in timing belt is off, or a sensor isn't right.
    • Theres still skid pan and motokhana days up in QLD at least that are $100 or less. The ones that are ran as "driver training" less so, they're expensive, but just normal skid pan days like SAU ran are still low cost. And thats one of the places I learned to be a lariken, purely by asking for passenger rides, and how people were doing crazy things. Reese gave me plenty of pointers back in the day for skid pan! And yes Duncan, I will never forget your pointers for track work. Especially after Neil got out saying "I am NEVER getting in the car with him again!" 😛
    • 49719 is the cooler loop. Right at the front, LHS of that diagram. Return line from rack (LP side) goes to cooler loop on RHS front of car, then back under engine and returns to bottom of tank. 49717M is feed from tank to pump. HP line out of pump is thick rubber, followed by the hard line that runs down to crossmember and runs in parallel (but opposite flow direction) to the LP return line. Nothing goes anywhere near the firewall or interior of car. The closest they get to that is the connections on the rack.
    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
