lol, OK.

"we see it differently and that's completely OK."

In other news, added a tiny amount of weight to chins and dips again, ready to start putting weight back on the bench also I think.

Been doing sprints on the bike to make up for resting lower back (no squats).

Back up to 85kg in the mornings, was as low as 82.

A session only takes 20-30mins tops as I'm using 30/60sec breaks.

Then we swapped places cause I used to be 80-82, but clocked in at 86 lastnight

Thing is it doesn't look like I've gained much fat at all but I'm also not a great deal stronger than I was at 80-82

Hypertrophy?

Either way Leesh is happier

I love this, because it's ironic my missus has complimented me on my back many times heh. Silly ignorant f**kers.

Semi-related to back muscles, I finally proper tore a callous doing deadlifts today....regret forgetting my chalk :( felt the bar rotate/slip a tiny bit in my left hand....yep....ripped it nicely :(

good ole torn calluses. I only ever seem to get them bellow the ring and pinkie finger.

not too bad at the moment as I am only dead lifting 100kg ish because of the bung knee.

Yeah well they are the most popular muscles but most females can tell a guy looks stupid if he doesn't build up the rest too

And those who have been around guys with good bodies long enough start to appreciate the other muscles too

Troy are you gripping the bar in the middle of your palm? I grip the bar across the bottom of the fingers where they join the palm and this doesn't pinch any skin there. I've never torn a callus that I haven't pulled off myself on purpose, but my calluses are also prolly too fkn big to tear lol

lol Birds is reply-trigger happy :P

It had a lot to do with not having chalk and the knurling on the bar being a little gunky and polished so I was constantly regripping :( I know I had to adjust my grip prior to the final rep that caused the tear, which is where I think I f**ked up. I'm using alternate grip with my left hand over the bar, where I'll usually have the bar sitting on top of my callouses in my right palm, but in my left it will be in the crevice between callous and finger. I suspect I may have had it above the callouses in my left.....I dunno. Either way, wouldn't have happened if I didn't forget my chalk :(

Doesn't help I'm only just getting back into deadlifts again either haha....only up to 145kg at the mo' :(

What am I misreading, I don't think we've swapped places. You were low 80's, now mid 80's. I was low 80's (but started from high 80s before getting sick/injured. ) and am now mid 80s.

Though I have gotten and stayed weaker overall and have no great desire to push hard to regain it. Will be adopting a very very slow and steady attitude with very small increases over long periods. Just trying to stay in shape.

I don't understand BN's protein matrix. What's the point of mixing a whole bunch of proteins together?

I bought some BCAA recovery (watermelon) from them. Not particularly impressed with the flavour as it tastes like weak cordial. Also got the free bag of green fusion, doesn't taste too bad, might make it a usual

Their theory was that different proteins have different advantages and matrix combines the advantages of them.

But then, BN, however good and well priced their products are, are the kings of unsubstantiated marketing suggestions.

Some protein is expensive , some is cheap. The mix is mostly full of the cheap stuff, with a hint of the expensive stuff.good marketing really.

All the whey protein is really bio available, who cares as long as its cheap. Don't want the soy based stuff though.

If we didn't talk shit about the 1%ers we'd never post in here because the basics are pretty much undisputed.

In more interesting news, my new swaybar links arrived, now I just need the bars to get here.

Chicken breast:

$9/kg (average)

21g protein per 100g - 210g/1kg

23g protein per $1

BN WPC:

$29/kg (when only buying 1kg)

78g protein per 100g - 780g/1kg

27g protein per $1 (or 39g per $1 when buying 5kg at once, as most seem to do)

Obviously there's more to it than how much you're paying for a gram of protein between powder and "real food" like your goals etc (wholefoods better for dieting as they're more filling, etc)....but seriously, before you* (*not directed at anyone specific) go harping on about "real food" being superior and/or cheaper....some simple mathematics might open your eyes. Given we're discussing protein sources (not fat, carbohydrates, or micronutrients), WPC represents the best value for money. End of discussion. You can keep your excessive volumes of meat; I'll keep my money and sip on my shake while you prepare and shovel down that rather filling steak (FWIW, I f**king LOVE steak and would never ditch eating meat just coz powder is cheaper).

My point here is exclusively aimed at the bullshit that keeps being repeated about meat being cheaper and supplements being a waste of money, which isn't accurate. Wholefoods are better for you (still arguable depending on the food itself), but by no means are they a cheaper source of protein for the average person who doesn't buy multiple kilograms of meat at once.

The same mathematical breakdown can be applied to the argument of WPC vs WPI. Per gram of protein, WPC is cheaper. So unless you have digestive issues forcing you to buy WPI, or you legitimately dislike the taste/texture of WPC, you're spending more than you need to.

Yeah it's hard to eat enough protein if you're not trying to gain weight, that said, I don't really like the taste of WPC and tend to find it bloats me, so I prefer blends or WPI. I do have to tell a lot of people that I don't think that protein powder has any magical effects etc etc though.

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
