lol yeah it's similar to the idiots at my gym doing lat pulldown and swinging back/down with all their weight. They make every exercise a cardio workout, to the detriment of good muscle building technique...

Their not pull ups, its called kipping

Where most get confused is they think of Crossfit as exercise, its not, its a sport

Think of it as a sport and it makes sense

Think of it as exercise and youll remain confused

My best mate, some of you would've met over the years, does Crossfit & so does his Mrs (over 24 months now). As do a lot of others in the armed forces (clearance divers etc).

He isn't the most ripped person, but the strength/fitness the guy has is just absurd, very solid individual and for his size super fit... His Mrs has a body to die for, for you astehtics people. It can't be "too" detrimental :)

But indeed look at it as a sport and it does make more sense no doubt.

Course they are fit and have good endurance, it's all one big cardio workout. Also find it hard to believe its not exercise when they are in fact burning calories through physical activity (i.e. exercising), even if the goal is to be a sport...

+1 Dani lol.

Birds loves to troll.

the blokes i watched do the circuit at the Gym expo in Sydney this year were all fit and some of em had some decent size on them as well.

It's all an interest though

Also i laughed at their pull ups or kipping whatever it is.

Because Crossfitters are bigger size, and more asthetic.

So reason would suggest it's nowhere near as "detrimental" as one might think. I mean you are lifting weights in a lot of movements, not something like a tennis racquet.

I believe he meant AN exercise, not just exercise in general. Downhill mountain biking is exercise, but not specifically AN exercise.

I think it's the way they seem to substitute speed and frequency in place of controlled movements, looks like there's a lot more potential to pull muscles or cause hyperextensions on joints.

This...

And it's still gonna build muscle, like any exercise, but your time under tension suffers hard when you're trying to get through motions that quickly. That's what I mean by detriment to muscle building. I certainly wouldn't recommend the stuff to anyone trying to build a lot of muscle or strength.

Interesting discussion.

So birds, I gather your some sort of self appointed expert in all things strength?

In 2011 I held my ProRaw rep challenge.

Amy Dracup, who represented Auatralia at the World Crossfit games after winning her regionals, entered my comp.

It was squatting, benching, C&J and Ukrainian Deadlifts (UDL's)

Going againt her was Taylor Young, she has deadlifted 220kg, and my wife Nina, who has 16 WR in powerlifting. Both strong women, and Nina is really fit as well, there were also around 10 guys, same parameters for all.

The Crossfit chick went home with the $2000 cash prize.

Not strong you say. At 52kg she can C&J 72.5kg, yet shes fit enough to win Oceania regionals

Respect......and shes seriously hot

    • You see R34 GTRs listed for 200-300k are they really selling for these prices? Kinda seems like the same ones listed all the time. Even with R33 GTSTs looking at gumtree. You have an auto with a bitsa interior for 35k. Another one needs an engine rebuild and asking 24k. And then you have a stock in better than average condition for 45k. Nobody is ever going to pay these prices.
    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
    • Can try Maxima. Or random Infiniti models from the same era. Good luck with your hunt, let us know what you find!
