My advantage of being a diabetic is that I can actually figure out how many grams of carbs I'm ingesting. For eg. my body utilises 1 unit of insulin = 7.5g of carbs. When I have 1 full cup of oats with water I use 4 units of insulin to bring my blood glucose levels bang in the middle optimum range. When I ate a large pizza, I had to use 12 units of insulin which = 90g of carbs (basically the bread). Now 4 slices of burgen bread = 4 units (30g carbs) which equates to 1 cup of oats. Who needs to calorie count when I can calculate it dead on based on my body :)

As a laugh, I had a tiny slice of cheese cake and needed 6 units of insulin (45g). Crazy empty calories from that, not to mention the fats lol

As for fats, I loaded up on peanut butter & brazil nuts and minimised cheese, and red meats (was eating it 4 times a day at one stage) since my LDL cholesterol was at 3.8mmol/L and HDL at 2.7 mmol/L.

Leesh, anyone that wants.

Powerlifting men dont do them, unless Max is punishing one, the girls love them, but only Nina from the competing girls does them

Remember most of my clients just train to get strong and fit

A fireman that trains here goes very well on them.

Farkin firemen...some of those guys are seriously fit.

At my dad's old gym (Markos, you may or may not remember Findlays in Hawthorn/Camberwell), that I used to muck around at when I was a kid, there were some properly strong guys there. One was a fireman who did nothing but squat, all day everyday. He was about 6'5 and a judo champion of some sort. In short, you couldn't have paid me to pick a fight with him. Had a fantastic figure!

Kind of miss that gym...it had 30 year old homemade ball dumbells and old school machines with chains. Only two treadmills and no one used them lol

Findlays was THE gym back in the day. Most aspired to go train there.

My fireman, lets call him David, squats 180, benches 140 and deadlifts 220, around 96kg, very fit. Technique on the lifts is gym quality, bum up on bench etc

He has nearly completed DEATH WISH II

Thrusters - 20kg x 15

Cannonballs - 32kg x 15

UDL- 64kg x 15

C&P - 16kg x 15

Swings - 24kg x 15

2 circuits non stop, thats 150 reps

I encourage everyone to do one. The most common excuse is "I'm going to wait till I get stronger"

Heres a clue, no ones going to stop getting stronger to wait for you lol. History has shown me the guys that get in earliest progress much quicker. Thats how Liam, my 15yo now, deadlifted 200kg at 14 as well as squatting 170kg, at 82kg.

Conor is the same, started at 14, did a novice comp very early, now at 17 and 88kg, squats 240, benches 125 and deadlifts 245

Its not a spectator sport, no one got stronger watching

Since doing a Novice comp in 2011, this is how Conors progress has gone

3/12 - Vic States - [email protected] class

6/12 - Nationals - [email protected] class

9/12 - Worlds - [email protected] class

3/13 - Vic States - 570kg@90kg class

6/13 - Nationals - 605kg@90kg class

He squatted 130kg at his first comp, and 2 years later squatted 240kg, by the time he was 17

    • Hi Fred, Are you still on here, I'm looking for 4 of these rims?
    • Looking back, I’m pretty sure I over-torqued the magnetic drain plug because I was trying to fully crush the copper washer. In hindsight, I definitely should’ve used a torque wrench. Either way, I ended up switching to a regular drain plug so I don’t have to deal with this kind of issue again. Big thanks to everyone on the forum for your support—I actually talk about you guys to my friends and coworkers
    • Curious to why you're not getting Jesse to do the exhaust, seeing that he has just done 2 GTRs with Aes valves.
    • What extra parts are you thinking you'll need to run e85 compared to e30?
    • I'm not aware of e30 in Australia, but I'm pretty sure e85 is still around. You really want a setup with an ethanol sensor so you can run any mix of ethanol depending on what you can access. Fuel Check NSW app shows 14 site in sydney metro with e85. What are you adding, will you put in bigger turbs too? Apparently the wastegates are pretty small and can't bypass enough as you run more boost.  I'm sticking to 1.3 bar with 98 on the standard turbos with my tune on advice from the tuner, and boost drops significantly in the top end; apparently larger turbos with larger wastegates are needed to get anywhere meaningful from there.
