Energy drinks are good for revitalizing the mind, not so much the body. Thye can give you a jump start if your hearts not going, but red bullmixed with a rapid heart beat is not such a good idea, Ive known people to end upin hospital with heart palpatations and such

Anyway the only thing i really do before a workout is have a shower and stick a rubber on it..

Am i doin it right?

no... because before a workout u stick a rubber so ur wick doesnt get aids from the homo your about to elope.

but if energy drinks are how you gays go for hours then enjoy...

YOU EEEEEEDDIIOOT!!!!

just for that i aint doin ya mum anymore, you can do her yourself, she was smelly anyway

Yo Scott, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but the wasteland has one of the best gym & supplement discussion threads of all time!

Link please birds.

Made the mistake last night of taking my pre work out suppliment, then after gym went out to play some pool and got stuck into red bull and yagermister. Not a good mix. Still havent slept yet.

As a general rule in any case, it's better to limit the amount of refined, or synthetic stuff in your intake - it's too early on in the piece to really prove the long term side effects, but it's sure to stress out your liver and kidneys as they try and process it.

Whole foods as a source of protein > protein supplements from a pure protein standpoint for example.

Btw, anyone from NSW tried Camperdown Fitness? Tried it the other day and have been pretty impressed so far. Gets busy but they have quite a few duplicate machines so no real wait for equipment. Saw a black GTSt in there last night too, thought he might be on here

anyone tried Jack 3D?

that shit gets me pumped. im up to around 2.5 scoops pre-workout. i get to the gym and i dont want to stop. for eg. my chest/bicep workout i did my dumbell sets, peck deck then needed more so i did everything again but on the machines. the next week i jumped up 5kg on all exercises. only down side is you need to keep upping your dose of it. and it tastes like shit.

How is everyones gym progress going?

I don't usually try for one rep maxes or hero shit, but I was curious to see if I could do the whole stack on lat pulldown with a V grip lastnight. Shit was friggen heavy! Felt like it was going to break my back lol. I managed 5 good reps on 250, after my regular routine of 2x10 on each of 180lbs, 190lbs and 200lbs...which I thought was a pretty good effort :woot:

I rather chin ups... I'm up to 15reps on the wide grip now... so been adding weight on a belt... can do 8-10 with 10kg now

also been doing power cleans / olympic style lifts... man that shit sorts you out! gotta be real careful with technique so haven't gone heavy yet but I can almost clean my body weight which isn't too bad I guess

I've finally cracked the tonne on bench press... do my work set at 100kg for about 6 reps

still can't get rid of all the fat tho... I'm 86kg and reckon I should be down around 80kg... oh abs, will I never see you again! will I be a fat bastard for ever:(

We should have an SAU olympics!!!

Yeah my abs disappeared when I gained a few kilos (some muscle, some fat) recently. Only just getting them back now thanks to lots of running and situps - DO IT! Horrible feeling having loose skin/flesh in front of the stomach :/

Just started last week after a year of no gym, fugging life transition thing, moving, new job, new people... doing baby stuff for now until I return back to my old shape 45kg on the bar, 8 reps with 5 sets, 75kg in the lat machine, same 8*5. The main core workouts, but I avoid squats because I fear hurting my back. No supplements other than... aspirin. While I was in college, I used tribulus and whey protein, very good combination and was able to do 110kg bench presses, one armed pull-ups, and an okay 130kg deadlift. I am 5'7" btw, kinda Tom Cruise short

I can do one arm pull ups! (while I grab my wrist with the other hand lol)

the worst part Birds is that I can feel abs under there... they're hiding under all those hamburgers/beer... I'm a good boy now and it sucks

I refuse to run tho, too boring... I play basketball and box, keeps me entertained while I sweat

I don't take supps... rather spend my money on coke and hookers, you know, stuff that's good for you

Yeah it is hard to lose that fugging belly fat! It is the absolute last part of your body to lose the bulge from what I understand. There is a program that I will take a look into, called P90, maybe you can take a look as well. Looked good on YouTube and convinced me enough to take a chance with it.

I eat all the right shit nowadays... take a bag of food to work eat little meals 5-6 times a day... lots of protein, chicken breast, boiled eggs... stay away from simple carbs like bread, pasta, potatoes etc... snack on almonds, low fat yogurt blah blah... its working, just slowly and I have no patience... and I still eat shit on the weekend and drink too much beer although I have cut back a lot

I just don't lose fat easily... I put on muscle pretty easily tho which is good I guess... f**k all this talk of food has made me hungry

I know exactly what you mean...mine are rock solid but hiding behind a layer of fat...not cool. Well that's still good cardio. Running is supposed to be ultimate though, with the whole "working every muscle/part of the body" mantra. Running is boring, but you can make it alright. If you try to beat your old times it can be entertaining lol.

You stay away from carbs? I eat half a loaf of bread a day, and pasta is almost every night lol. I do have a pretty fast metabolism, which might help, but if I ditched my carbs I wouldn't make it through my workout. No greens or fruit for me either >_<

Do you clean and press? Or just power clean? Try doing clean and press, it makes a massive difference.

I've put on 8 kilos of muscle mass in the one month I've been training since I got back from Europe. Following Matt Marshall's guide, anyone here heard of him? I find his workouts absolutely amazing, nothing has ever worked for me so well.

Are you sure all 8kg of it was muscle :P

When you put on muscle, some fat usually comes with it...

You'll always be able to power clean more than you can clean and jerk.
