hey guys I'm sure theres something about this somewhere I did a search but couldnt find too much.. does anyone know how to replace the power window motor in the drivers side door of an r33??

mine seems to have bit the dust.. the window got stuck down but after beating the shit out of the motor with a hammer I managed to get it to kick in and wind back up.. but she is good and dead now..

So any help would be good..

Also where can I get a replacement??

i did this a while ago but my memory is abit blurry. you can take the motor out without having to dissasemble the running arms. there is 3 gold screws from memory inside the door that holds the motor. there should be a hole to access them. there is one particular bolt that requires a mirror to get to. the hardest part is getting to those bolts then its pretty much a swap and bolt up. be carefull not to round off the screws like i did with one of them. should be a 30min job if all goes right.

if you post up a pick of the door i can show you what area the motor is located.

I removed mine a while back. i spent hours fluffing around till i finally worked out how to do it. I think the end result was quite simple. its really not that many screws once u get the trim off. But i can also remember it being helpful to have a second person to hold the glass so it doesnt go tumbling to the ground once u remove the motor from the mechanism. i think we then chocked it with some wood inside the door.

once u have it out i also have a memory of jaming something like a screw driver through part of the removed motor/mech as part of it is under high tension and will chop ya fingers off if ur not careful.

I did this today.

I was extremely worried what would happen to that coil/spring tensioner when the motor was removed, so searched and found this post. (thanks moobaque)

Anyway, i had the screw driver in there....and a pair of multi-grips jammed in too cause i was pretty worried of the whiplash..

Then, after heaps of looking at it, just got my multi-grips at their widest setting and just popped the spring off instead!

No more problems

It only travels an extra 1/4 turn or less.

Also, when getting it back on, the largest grip will grab the sping but clamping the multis wont make the distance to get it back on.

So i used 2 sets of multis (had a crap pair i never used floating around)....so pulled as tight as i could with the 1st set, then transferred to the other set on a smaller setting...hey presto! Back in business with a working power window

Schweeeet
