ok, my extractors are getting fitted tomorrow, they are cutting off the original final 2 into 1 cone that has a 2inch diameter and replacing it with a 2 1/2 inch one to suite the rest of my system. Ill let u all know how it goes.

Hey pipols, i got my extractors fitted last Friday, and i can only describe them as excellent, definetly more tork in the low to mid rev range, and it 'seems' to go harder in the higher end of the rev range as well, they allso enlarged the final few inches of the extractors to 2.5 inches.

cool greg, my exhaust is a little louder at idle, and a bit more throatier on acceleration, but i only have the standard exhaust with standard cat, with a lukey sports muffler, it seems that my standard exhaust is 214 inch in diamater, is that the standard factory size? im planning oh a high flow cat, and a 212 inch system soon, or maybe even a 3 inch, but dont know if the noise will be to much if i went the 3.

dont go 3 inch u will lose performance most likely cos lack of back pressure! keep it at 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 ", wat kind of lukey muffler is it ? get a hi flo cat as well, catalytic converters are so bad, mine is flanged and wen i take it off and put the pipe there it makes a huge difference.

there are other ways round buying a high flow cat, they are very restrictive and pratically useless after 60000k's neways. Apparently i read somewhere that a well tuned rb engine will still pass an emissions test without one? dont know how true that is.

my car came with a HKS 2 1/2 inch Super Drager exhaust, the extractors are "Coby" brand, ordered from www.partsco.com in New Zealand i think. I modified the final 2 into 1 section of the extractors to be 2 1/2 inch diameter to match my exhaust system.

    • You put the driver's seat on the wrong side! Incredible detail on all of this. It looks like you could learn a lot about the car just from assembling the kit.
    • I made a mistake today. I had a spot I fixed, and used guide coat and I kept sanding until it went away and it did (sort of),  the guide coat was still there if I used wax and grease remover but was gone if I just blew the dust off. I ended up removing all of the filler and can feel a dip lol. The weird thing was I could still feel something after removing the guidecoat when the filler was there.  Is the proper way to check that all guide coat has been removed is to use the wax and grease remover or is just dusting it off fine?
    • Issues 11 - 21 Finally got around to building a growing pile of weekly issues/parts and taking some photos. I did a bit of detail painting focusing on the fuel rail and injectors... these were originally all black plastic and looked quite unrealistic compared to the other parts. Also used some Tamiya panel line accent colour to give the whole cylinder head and surrounding parts a slightly weathered 'just run in' look to it. I've been following another Japanese guy's build and he's done the same more or less.  Also got a 1/8th scale number plate set to replace the GT-R Nismo plates that came with the kit, to go together with the 'just run in' theme.
    • Quick update, finally got an hour or two on a weekend where there wasn't shit weather, no sick kids, people visiting our house or had to work. Visited me old folks and the skyline...dropped  $10 of 98 in the tank and a brand new SCA shitter battery in. Cranked over a bunch of times but didn't fire up....pretty sure it's not getting any fuel. Gonna try some of the stuff suggested above, next time I make it over there.
