Here's a pretty good one that you could land for about 15k.

Hope these attachments work.

i dont know why you replaced the water pump and timing belt if not sure?get belt checked?..thas most a grand there.if water pump not leaking leave it.your other repairs were maintenance.the bushes wear and replace em.new wheel alignment is ok.its running rough?well get it checked over properly by a trusted mechanic or get 2 or 3 opinions.it may just need some tlc and a bit of work.find out the bottom line on the car.repairing and bumper spray is not a big option especially if they can just match and blend it{paint}.......otherwise you will be car hunting again which is also a lotta work plus you got to try and make this one a respectable sale an thats a hastle.

i had a r33 gts for 3 yrs an not one repair at around 100 000 km's....was a direct import.and always go grade 4 ratings at auction not below or dont get a cheap repair{damaged vehicle}....you can trust that rating usually{4}.and go low mileage as possible.plenty of bargains if careful.you just got to time selling and buying.both need time.sounds like your existing car has been not looked after in a while considering all those repairs came up at same time.so it dont necessarily mean its time to partially repair it and pass it off to some novice.it may just need to be updated and tuned etc.....these cars dont tend to fall apart.if you like it keep it.

simple....

castor rod bushes -always need replacing on all r32's, often

new hoses, new radiator (as begun to corrode) - age related, once per 10 yrs

def needs a paint job - cosmetic, not required

front bumber scratched a lil and not fitted properly - cosmetic, can be done same time the paint job is done

wheel alignment, new tires - a result of having poor castor rod bushes :(

it idles quite rough and 1 of the belts slips when i start her up.

im up for spending money on my car but i dont want to spend the amount i paid for it on making it run 100%..

im after advice and opinions...

cheers peps.

regardless of the amount u spend, it'll be the exact same cost and the exact same sort of stuff that goes wrong... perhaps its more well spent on a gtr than a gts but apples and oranges...ive spent $6k on my gtr in the last 8 months and it was in a good condition when I got it. Truth is the 32's are getting long in the tooth and they need some TLC from time to time to keep em purring

-D

true true.

thanks for the advice ;)

As one of the older members of SAU, can I pass on some advice on life"

If its got tits or wheels its going to cost you a lot of money.

From what you have listed, if its going to cost moire than 2k to fix it may be cheaper to sell it and buy another one (but check it out this time so you dont end up in the same situation again)

This vehicle must cost a fortune then?

:laughing-smiley-014:

In all honesty I think you'd be pretty crazy to buy a GTR if you didn't have at least $25k to spend on one all told.

This way you buy one for the $18k and can do all that needs doing, or you can buy one that someone's ironed all the bugs out of already.

As the guys have said, they certainly love to chew cash.

Ask the guys with modified GTRs what sort of cash they've spent and usually the answer will be something along the lines of "too much" or "I'd rather not add it up".

i was in the same boat as you man, then someone tried breaking into my car causing 5k damage :s

so i had a long think about it and decided to keep my car and fix it to perfect running and the body is mint. theres not many 32 gtst's out there that are in good condition due to their age but i think ive got one that is pretty decent condtion. still have to do a few more things to make it 100% but at least i know whats done to it and who has done it.

but i sat there and caculated what ive spent so far, it works out that i could have had a 33 gtr vspec :P

Keep the r32 and go crazy on the engine full rebuild with the works

The money iv spent and still spending on my r33 gtst i couldv owned a r34gtr but for me buying a gtr would set me in the 100k mark as i like to rebuild my cars top to bottom after owning them for 2weeks lol so it would come down to what you do with your cars :P

hey all,

im not sure if my car is running as well as it should b....

138XXX kms, simon did my oil filter/oil change, new belts, new plugs, coolant flush done not long ago. looks as of the timming belt and water pump was done not long ago but should get it redone so im "sure" its done.

needs new:

castor rod bushes, new hoses, new radiator (as begun to corrode), def needs a paint job, front bumber scratched a lil and not fitted properly, wheel alignment, new tires.

it idles quite rough and 1 of the belts slips when i start her up.

do some research and learn ur car better.

caster rod bushes, round the $100 mark for urethane, bit more for adjustable ones, $40ish for getting them pressed in, do the labour of putting them in and out urself, pretty easy job. radiator, once again do the labour urself, radiator will cost u $100 from a wrecker, spend another $100 to get new seals and get a flush for it. hoses, depends what u need really, paint job u can do urself if u have a compressor and spray gun, or u can do the sanding urself and take it in and get the painting done pretty cheap, but really, its not a necessary thing, same as the scratch etc. wheel alignment, $40-$80 depending on what u get done, and what adjustment u have. new tyres, well if u look around u can get decent tyres for pretty cheap 2nd hand, ive got a few near newies up for sale, or even just some with a bit less tread, looking around the $200-$300 mark for a set of 17" tyres, depending on how much tread and what type u want, looking at about $40-$60 for fitting and balancing if u dont know any wheel fitters personally.

hrmm...

$140

$200

$60

$250

$50

roughly $700 to get her nice and good again. and belts, well if ur with the RAA, id buy the right belt, cut the f**ked belt off, call RAA and say yep, one of my belts has snapped off, heres the belt for it (they wont carry belts for skylines) say u knew it was going and ud bought one ready to change them over, but it broke before u got a chance etc etc, get them to install it and wallah, free labour!!

saying that, check the tension first, it might just be loose and spinning on the pulley.

thks bro,

i work for CBC so belts, seals, pullies etc. aint hard to get hold of. we sell timing belt tensioner kits at work :P

------------------

thanks all for the advice, im def goin to put the money in and get her fixed up :O

i called nissan to try and get hold of some water hoses, the guy rekons 300 or so including freight from over seas o.O

bushes he has in stock for 34 bucks a pop he rekons so that aint all bad, just got to look for a new/2nd hand radiator.

cheers

same with me, i dont know the exact total ive spent.. i would rather not know. but i enjoy doing stuff to my car. its money lost i know, but some people drink, smoke or play pokies..

i doubt ill ever sell the car either

My Beloved GT-R 'Zilla is the danglies, IMO, well worth the cash spent. There is only one GT-R remember.

Turbos, internals, 'puter, rolling gear etc, etc..... loadza cash, and she still looks orig.

Ya have to figure out if you want to own part of the legend ... or not to be honest. There are some days I think... Geeeeeeeeeeeez, all that cash I blew on her.... BUT, I sit in the pilot seat, and it all fades into insignificance.

I bought her to use when possible, had I wanted to minimise financial loss, then the choice of car would have been different.

They chew money more than other cars I would say, but then again.....

also consider gettin the radiator re-cored

know a bloke down at somerton park who does a really top notch job, and a recore wont cost anywhere near as much as a second hand radiator, plus u got the piece of mind that its basically brand new
