Hey peeps,

Just after peoples opinions on mobile phone kits, what your are using or seen and prefer.

I'm currently using a Nokia CK-7W and think it's great.

Cost about $115 delivered.

Has Bluetooth connectivity and you can press a button to answer, or press and hold and say the name to call (if it can recognise what you say)

I was thinking of getting another one of those for our recent new car (non Skyline...and 2nd hand)

But, I've also stumbled on the CK-15W which looks similar but has a fancy display.

The best i can find is $229 delivered for that one.

Anyone using other kits (preffereably Bluetooth) that you could suggest?

Cheers..Birnie

;)

Wow the 616 is a pricey kit. Must do a good job though

I've bought a non-nokia kit once before and it sounded so bad, i took it back and bought another cheaper Nokia that sounded better.

What sort of feedback on the Parrots?

its a 8w car phone thats why the hefty pricetag. I get into some wierd spots and the phone needs to work.

feedback on the parrot items is almost nonexistant.

I ordered the 15W yesterday...waiting for delivery

6110's not working with the CK-7W's?

That's odd.

It's actually a pretty simple device only looking for Bluetooth devices so i can't see why it wouldn't if it has Bluetooth?

CK-7W is a great/simple/cheap unit by the way.

Have one in the Skyline now.

There is a 20W but i can't find much info on it.

Only has pics of the little swivel unit ??

Have had dramas of people's 6110 Nav's not running with a CK-7W.

Is there a Nokia CK-20W...? Apparently it is meant to work. Chris...?

dunno, never used it. 7w & 15w are my usual ones. I will say that the 616 does fight with the 6120 I have occasionally. one of them drops the BT link and I have to manually reset it. oddly enough it works fine with my old 6230.. go figure.

6230's and 6230i's are gun phones - had one for three years no need to upgrade yet.

But yes CK-7W and 6110 navs - keeps dropping out of bluetooth. CK-20W apparently works.

I got the pioneer 9850 head unit has built in bluetooth works really well, auto connects when i turn the car on, cuts the music out does all the right stuff, and i got one of those little portable speaker type ones in my ute a sudio its called works ok but u find yourself leaning towards it so the person you are talking to can hear u better, i put in on my sun visor and its a pain in the ass cause u have to charge it.

    • That's awesome. Fully serviced/full log book history for one of those cars is super rare from what I know. With JDM's like Skyline's, Supras, are quite hard to find one with full log book history. S15's seem to be somewhat of an exception, at least the spec s australian delivered models.
    • Hey all, It's been a bit since I have been able to update.  I pulled the fuel pump, first off it was a "universal" pump and the strainer was very clogged, and it was folded over on itself.  I replaced the fuel pump and all is well....  No more stalling.
    • That's convinced me I'll bump up the G30-660 to 770   Any idea if the difference in boost pressure? Cheers

    • Hey guys so turns out this project is going to be much bigger than I thought haha but I've done some my homework and have done a few panels on my car, but one part I can just not visualise is this. If I do a spot repair and I put filler in a dent for example and sand outside of the repair with 320 grit lets say so the primer can stick as I will only put primer on that repair and the surrounding area and then repaint the whole panel. Don't I need to make sure that I don't put primer on the old clear coat? I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down, it's still shiny. I thought putting paint on clearcoat or primer on clearcoat is a bad idea because it won't stick. So in this scenario it's a bit different to mine but imagine someone doing a spot repair and only painting that small section of repair but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat. What am I missing?
