I'm not sure if i have asked this before or not,

I got a bosch 040 fuel pump installed in my car a while back, since then i sometimes have to turn the key a couple times to start the car,(not always) i told the person about this who installed the pump and they said it was fine and that theres nothing wrong, i'm just curious cause with my stock pump i never had to turn the key more then once to start the car, the car ALWAYS started nicely with the stock pump.

thanks

i do that sometimes and it still does it, i was told to let it prime for only a few seconds, oh well as long as theres nothing wrong for me to worry about

thanks

theres a few things that could be causing that problem. Leaky injecotor or blocked? fuel pressure? cranking speed in the tuning. My guess is a blocked injectors or broken o-ring...

My guess is the non-return valve wasn't re-installed with the new pump (no dramas, mine wasn't either), just means you have to start it before the priming stops or the fuel flows back into the tank. Prime for a couple of seconds and start it before it stops priming.

bro my car has sard pump and reg and has the same problem,,mine is easer to start when the cars warm,,but when its first start of the day is takes a couple of goes,,is yours easyer when its warm,,?

Priming - is when you flick to accessories, and let the fuel pump whine away; its drawing fuel into the stator and pressuring the lines. It will go quieter or quiet when done. Now you hit "start".

You shouldn't need more then one hit of the starter motor.

I was under the impression everyone did this :P

040's I believe come with drain back valves, 044 don't.

Check if holding pressure, connect inline fuel pressure guage, get friend turn on for you watch fuel pressure rise and hold? or drop off? check drain back valve, ok? and right way fitted, install one see what happens?? if still no good look further was ok before but not now, whats the stock pump/internals like compared to repacement, bigger in/out pressure may drop to rapidly before your turning key to start?

my 044 came with a banjo style anti-drain back - but i replaced it with a dash style screw on from motorsports connection

are the 040's built in ?
