New R32 A/c Compressor

Paid $400 to have a second-hand a/c compressor fitted and regassed but it seized up after a few weeks so I 'd rather not risk another second hand one.

Has anyone fitted a new compressor? Part no.?

did u purchase the ac compressor from the wreckers? if u did there should be like 1 months

warranty on it? there pretty expensive i would reckon to buy it brand new.

think u be better of getting another used one from the wreckers that have warranty on it.

i brought one of the forum for $100 buxs my mechanic installed and regassed it for me and found out there was a crack/leak in the compressor wasted to $200 buxs fitting and gassing it as well..

Mine came off a halfcut($50) and worked ok for a few weeks before it progressively developed a rattle and then a knock and finally seized.

It cost $400 to fit.They used a new dryer and flushed the system and tested it for leaks with nitrogen, found a leak and fitted a new hose and put new oil in the system before they gassed it.

Even if they would give me another second hand pump you can never get warranty on fitting of used parts by a third party so all that money apart from the hose was wasted.

I talked to the guy who fitted it after it failed and he said to only consider another second handy if I could find one that was still in a car working before a degas and seal it up immediately so I'm hoping to find someone stripping a wreck or racecar otherwise I'll have to find a newy.

Just go to an A/C specialist to have you current compressor rebuilt. I've heard its about $300. Thats what id be doing if i had problems with mine.

if it seized up shortly after it was installed, sounds like there was still moisture in the system or it overheated, maybe dont go to that place that installed it. it shouldnt seize that easily, its possible they didnt vac out the moisture, which can lead to compressor failure

My Zexel compressor in my R32 has developed a bit of a rattle last summer too, it only does it sometimes on idle but still blows freezing cold air, have been to several air con places around here and they all tell me it cant be rebuilt :s

Was told also that rebuild kits are not available for the zexel ones

cant even buy the clutch windings seperatly

yeh i heard the same thing today. Everyone told me the wont do it or it cant be done.

theres not enough profit in rebuilding them thats why they wont do it . we wont recon them where i work and we are reluctant to fit 2nd hand ones customers supply there made fully aware that there is no comback if it fails .

however we try to look after them with a good price on a new one when possiable . plus as someone has said parts for some of the stuff is really hard to come by

They did a thorough flush and ran nitrogen in the system prior to oiling and gassing it.

It was cold as but had a bit of a rattle from the start that slowly deteriorated over several weeks until it became a loud knock and seized.

It's likely it was on the way out when the car it came from was wrecked or it wasn't sealed up for several months that it sat in the halfcut.

I was told reco kits aren't available.

Has anyone had one of the locally available new ones fitted?

If so what needs to be changed for it to fit?

not good mate - I had mine stuffed by a mob that changed it over to R134A - worked fine before that, but I can't prove they left moisture in the system... I'll be looking to get a new compressor pump too.

I will let you know how I go.

$1200 for a new compressor for an R33 from Nissan. I had my aicon system basically completely replaced as the compressor had siezed and chewed itself out flooding the system with crap. Another compressor was rebuilt and everything else was replaced all up 2k. However it has to go back as something like one of the o-rings hasn't sealed and it degassed itself.
