Hello

I originally posted this post in the wrong area.

I have a R32 GTS-T auto and I want to put a full turbo back exhaust on it.( I have a cat back exhaust on now.) I was checking hi flow cats and down pipes and turbo exhaust pipes from Tomei, HKS, etc, and most of the specs said that I have to have a manual transmission to use this.

I live in Japan

Is this true? Do I have to have a manual to change to a full turbo back exhaust?

no its fine, it will work etc and make some good power

just bear in mind you can't use a manual based ECU such as a PowerFC etc as some of them are auto ecu's only

you should look at an FCON pro since you are in japan as they are locally supported and piggyback onto the stock ECU (which retains auto control)

Thanks alot!!!! The garage that is going to tune for me when I am ready said that they will use the Greddy E-Manage for my car. Is this a good piggy back computer?

Also, do I have to get the car tuned to have the full turbo back exhaust be useful?

No, You dont have to have your car tuned but suggested you can, as your exhaust is in,your boost will go up a lil , Maybe you should tune it when you have a couple of more mods.. so you dont waste your money for example like getting an intercooler and a couple of more little mods , then you should go do a tune.

There is a place that sells used Nissan parts and mod stuff. They had a FCON for about 700 or 600 dollars but the E-Manage is only 300 dollars new.

I would probably have to ride with the full exhaust for about a month or two before I could get the tune, is this ok? Oh and is it necessary to change the exhaust manifold?

A better exhaus manifold willl help you come on boost sooner. Its not necessary but if ur car is in a workshop and you have a manifold handy..... :-)

Well I have to change my turbo to another stock turbo(previous one died) so why I am going to be in that area, I thought it is a good idea to get some more of the exhaust done.

If I do the exhaust manifold too, do I have to tune? If I get the turbo exhaust pipe and down pipe but still have a stock cat and a apexi 3" exhaust, will this be fine? Or do I have to get the hi flow cat for this to be effective?

A higher flowing cat would help, being that as you get into higher revs it is trying to push more air through. The free-er flowing the better.

No need to tune, a decent stainless manifold will pretty much just do its job without altering ur engines dynamics at all. I think if you were to run a stainless mnifold, then an aftermarket dump pipe as you state, then an apexi 3" cat back sys, it would be a waste not to rn a high flow cat. converter.

The reason wont have the hi flow cat right now is because expensive. I think the average price I have seen here in japan is around 800 dollars for a Sard or Tomei or HKS.

I have seen the Turbo exhaust pipe for around 100 to 200 dollars and the front pipe for about 150 dollars. I can buy those now. If I can put these on and still have a performance boost without changing the cat now, I will do that.

What do you suggest?

No need to change your manifold, waste of time and money, being in japan, the wrecking yards would be full of remapped stock ecu's, which i would imagine would be worthless over there, if you can see the mods to a car before you pull the computer out, then you can get one that siuts your mods. I would get an rb25 turbo if you need to replace yours. I wouldn't bother with an emanage, as you really arent going to make a lot of power with your list of mods, and the mapping in the r32 gts-t ecu isnt that bad.

pfc has been used plenty of times on autos with no problems.

i run an emanage on my auto, its a top computer. its got alot of great functions - more than a pfc.

if your workshop recommended it it must mean theyre fairly confident with its capabilities. i say go for it.
