Thinking of starting boxing once i get off shift work.

I've been to the gym before but i wanna try something different.

I've tried searching on google, but all it comes up with are places that are in the city, or Fitness First.

Does anyone know of a good place to go and train?

I don't have ambitions to become an amateur/professional boxer.

I want to do it to keep in shape and look after myself.

Cheers

I see you live in Carlingford. There's a boxing club in Baulkham Hills i used to go to:

Castle Hill Boxing Club, Unit 9, Masonic Schools, Seven Hills Rd. Baulkham Hills, Ph: (02) 9634 5517

Thanks for that mate.

I'll give them a call and c how it goes

As for Cronulla...NAH, i'll leave that to the...erm.,..whatever

All You Need Is Punching Shit Bruz... :)

Punchin is for poofs. Kicking is where its at. I really should start Tae Kwon Do again... :D

Though come to think of it... where is this "Maquarie Kickboxing" located Liz? Kickboxing has always intrigued me, probably because I always think of it as Tae Kwon Do on ROIDS... :)

There is a boxing centre in Kernel that my mate runs. PM me for the details.

Same thing happened to me when i googled ninjutsu, three in the city. I found 1 in canturbury though which is a little closer. Ilike ninjutsu much better than boxing. PM me for contact details if interested.

Having done boxing and some other forms of martial arts, i'd have to say the best i've done, and still do is Krav Maga. The weakness with those other forms of fighting is that they are bound by rules. Also there is no zen, enter the dragon bullshit in Krav Maga.

Krav is raw, use what you've got, fight as dirty as you need to, hits to the balls, hammer punched to the back of the neck.... et al, to win and get out.

Even if you never need to throw a punch in a threatened state, it's an awesome weekly cardio workout.

see my sig for a better explanation of Krav Maga

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. Scan of a magazine with the black R33 from 1996: Wayback machine archived page from May, 2000: https://web.archive.org/web/20000529061027/http://www.emotion-r.co.jp/skyline.html Option magazine with a few photos from the Cockpit Tatebayashi booth at the Auto Salon from various years: 2002: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=154&image_id=3507 2003: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=137&image_id=3033 2005: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=116&image_id=1831 In 2008 Cusco website mentions that the Cockpit Tatebayashi ECR33 was displayed at that year's Tokyo Auto Salon: https://www.cusco.co.jp/event/2008/12/post_735.html As of 2021 it appears that the ECR33 demo car ended up being exported to Florida, USA: https://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-nissan-skyline-r33-cockpit-tatebayashi-demo-car-big-te06-turbo-endless-brakes-lsd-450hp/ And finally here's Google streetview of the Emorion R garage in 2023 which is amazingly not only still there, but the showroom is still full of various parts in stock and funishings, etc.: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ttyEAZdZLyzermyT9 Apologies for nerding out a bit. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
