What a day.

Well the ankle held up ok... much better than my tyres.

Had a ball, got to drive a type R integra and also passenge in a 205 GTI.

Had some fun in my car, believe that pete has some footage of this. Played fun and games with a "It is you job to pass me, why should I move over for you" VS/VX? SS crummy dore with SUE number plates... what a typical crummy dore driver. aparently he lives in the mountains too... hmmm

Did some nice laps early, HOW PACKED was group C. I think I overtook 2 cars a minute in the first session... was good though.

Had a ball all day... but wasn't it long, went home and had one more beer... which took ages to drink and fell asleep.

Good to meet all the newby's, all were great people and I hope to see you all again. As for the crazy regulars, a pleasure to spread rubber with you as always.

Untill the next day,

Drive carefully, don't speed, and protect your rubber... you'll need next time!!!

Dan.

Yeah was a really fun day. It was nice meeting some of you guys, damn there were alot of skylines out there : ) Hats off to the guy with the cam corder mounted in the rear. Im definately gonna try something similar for the next track day. Mebbe even one in the foot well. HAerhae.

Look forward to driving with u guys again. Provided i have rubber for the s15 to sit on : )

Anyone got any pics to post? lap times?

Whilst dumping my video 8 down to VCR, i timed some of my laps. My best was a high 2.01. Im wrapped considering i run std boost.

No doubt Eastern rewards good suspension more than Wakefield.

Took the turbo off Friday night, the noise was a blown exhaust housing gasket. $50.00 gasket later back on the road without the Kombi exhaust note.

Errrr... are you kidding? Wakefield is a much more suspension oriented track than Eastern Creek...

EC is a more big HP track... Wider turns, the straight is double the length of Wakefield's straight...

Yeh maybe, but Wakefiled is very stop go with two fast corners that are over before they started, (about 70 degree turns).

I was thinking Eastern with its high speed sweepers and third gear corners that my car suited it a little better.

I agree that with big HP you are going to be a lot quicker, but at Wakefield i struggle to be 1.5 seconds quicker than a friends 200sx which is quicker in a straight line, but at Eastern i simply drove away from him.

Food for thought anyway, the end result is its finally time for some extra hp

Hey guys, these two tracks are two different circuits. many people will have differen ideas on which is better with what set-up and so on. this is only gonna start a huge argument.

My surgestion. drive at both and then decide for yourself what feels right.

Hmmmm... Okay... The 200SX handles a whole lot better than an R33 Skyline, both having equal amounts of work done to the handling...

So the your skyline eats the 200SX for breakfast on EC, but is hardly any quicker at Wakefield?

Doesn't that suggest that the 200SX's superior handling and suspension is more beneficial at Wakefield?

Majanal... I'm not arguing here, just having a friendly discussion on how different setups benefit on different tracks...

Afterall... Arguing is like the Special Olympics... Even if you win you're still retarted  (Admins can feel free to edit that out if they feel the need :D)

Not arguing either, but one of the benefits of these types of days is to see where others cars are strong, and where yours is lacking.

My friends 200SX has King Springs, with Koni Rear shocks (Rear only). It has exhaust filter, clutch and boost.

My car an R32, has a complete Whitleine susp kit with cat back exhaust and filter, clutch & flywheel, good pads and fluid.

In a straight line his car boosts quicker and is comfortably quicker than my car. No 180km/h speed limiter either.

The fact that during acceleration and top end his car is quicker, but my car handles and stops a little bit better suggests that at EC my car works better than his, and at Wakefield his car is almost as quick (his hp advantage brings him closer)?????

At the end of the day neither of our cars are that special, but we make do with what is available to us.

    • Mate you saved be from dying in the Perth summer. AC wasn't changing direction and just going into diagnostics mode fixed it. You're a legend and I would shout you a beer if I could!
    • Unfortunately effort gone to waste, you will have substantial issues with how the manifold and wastegate have been integrated. You would be so much better off with a modified stock manifold like this: https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25detexgatedmanifold/   OR literally just getting a off the shelf Sinco or 6Boost manifold as myself and others have mentioned.
    • Yuck. But it's kinda the same principle, moving timing around to make car run bad but sound good.... I went for a more spirited tuning drive to iron out a few things. Car no longer stalls, and it loved to dip RPM low when you clutch in. After tuning this (and the 4-5 tables that HPTuners/LS1 OEM ECU wants for idle air correction) it's now behaving somewhat normal. All expected because there's a new TB, new Intake manifold and that new TB which is 102mm vs 78... has an entirely different IAC passage which is smaller because ????? Unfortunately at this point I went to make further fine tuning changes to avoid it flaring up, you know... _tuning_ the HPTuners dongle died. Well to be more accurate - The USB cable died in a fashion that anyone who has ever charged a phone will recognize. After the app demanding I resync it 50 or so times (which all 'succeeded' but all failed) the device does not want to sync and I've logged a ticket with support to see if it's fixable. US Support said it was a 'storage issue' but after removing the SD card inside it and formatting it/fixing it the issue does persist. Unfortunately usually the fix is "Turn in your old dongle and pay $700 for the upgraded one" it's cheaper because I get some free licence credits I unfortunately don't need. However I'm 10 minutes down the road from HP Tuners AUS/VCM so at least I won't need to post it, and logged a new ticket for support over here. Definitely drives different. My SOTP dyno believes it's probably making 310-320kw instead of the 280 before.  It scrambles for traction a little now whereas it previously different. It drives like a bigger cam car up top even though the cam is smaller, likely due to the cam not being advanced 6 degrees. The timing is deliberately low and the fuel is very rich so who knows if this will improve on the dyno. It may, imperceptably. Also funny is removing the pineapples definitely makes the car squat more and axle tramp less. So this behavior of having more top end, squatting more, and scrabbling for traction more makes me think = more power. But I could have just been sitting on the threshold of that kind of behavior before. Time will tell if my butt dyno is calibrated right. I need the exhaust leaks fixed before dyno tune for obvious AFR related reasons - I repositioned the pipes but I'm not confident it's fully sealed even if it is better. At least the car does drive around while I cannot tweak/tune it for now. And I have aircon again. medium success!
    • Don't use that manifold. Please don't use that manifold. Sunk cost fallacy is not worth the later pain. None of these will be relevant to the change that will come from the different turbo and manifold. As in, the effect of the exhaust will be nil, regardless of what else is changed. And all the cam and fuel system stuff is not changing either way, so has no effect. The turbo and manifold (and to a small extent the wastegate)....big change.
