If it's a small puncture you can use Tyre-Weld (or a similar inflator-sealer), and you can drop in a bottle of puncture guard stuff but that's kinda messy.

Hmm, yeah I'd rather have my spare in the boot. Means I have less boot space with my subbie over it (and means I have to unscrew mounting brackets and amp wires to get to it, but at least I have that option).

hey guys

just an update, not much work has gone on since i last posted. been strung up with work.

just finished cutting and shaping the false floor, still need surrounds that go where the boot arms close through and vinyl up the whole lot but these pics should give u some idea of what i got so far.

its a practical 3 piece floor design so i can still access my spare tyre, and have my amp hidden as well as a 3rd spare compartment which i will prob use as a stash space for jumper leads or something.

Your installs coming along nicely cheez! I was thinking of doing something similar in my R34. At the moment I've just got a off-the-shelf box with a 15". Serves its purpose for now, but I want to go to a pair of 12s just for the tighter response of the 12" driver.

Just a thought at the moment (I'm yet to measure up and determine feasiblity): I was thinking of using a MDF wall in the same section as what you have, maybe a little further back...but then mount a prefab fibreglass enclosure to it. Something similar to the 12" Dual Fibreglass Enclosure from this ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Karatan-Enclosures That way it creates a nice clean look that using a wall set up gives, and also gives a custom install look with the fibreglass.

Any thoughts on that? Just something I thought of when I saw those prefab enclosures on ebay. It's not completely DIY, but it saves a lot of mucking around with fibreglass, specially when I haven't had ANY experience with fibreglassing yet.

As for the floor I was looking at going a multiple piece floor to be able to access the compartments and spare tyre. As for the amplifier I was thinking of mounting it in a fixed section of the floor under some plexi.

Nice work man! wow thats awesome.

Im abit upset you didnt give me a personal PM with your progress but ill let it slide haha.

Now to copy :D

i was going to but i got side tracked yet.. but you see it now.. copy away

  • 1 month later...

this leaves absolutely no room for anything in the boot, but its a cool setup....

the sub enclosure is also completely moulded into the spare wheel well

but due to lack of boot space and lack of spare wheel, i have removed this enclosure and is sitting in my garage. so if anyone wants the enclosure, PM me and we can discuss pick up and price etc

    • Yes they're fairly common, especially where there's kids around like in an apartment complex. The kids will see the characters and then (hopefully) read the sign that says not to enter because it's dangerous.  I've seen them on busy roads where kids wouldn't be hanging around as well, but not every time. It could be down to the city/town where it is and how cutesey (lol) they want to present their construction sites
    • Nice cars and coffee at MX5 Mania today, saw a V6 engine swap from a Jag, and a super tidy K swap, heaps of MX5 of all variants, alot alot of other cool things as well LOL That truck was farking huge
    • I'd be surprised if it's a problem. A highflow cat doesn't present a massive restriction. You'd have to be tuned on the ragged edge for there to be any likelihood of something going wrong.
    • Problem with putting them back on my ignition timing with the tune might get screwed up. What u think?
    • Not sure I will have much paint left if I do that … I am going to do my mirrors shortly with some n45 primer from dr beasley then ceramic coat them. The rear has been ceramic coated already after the paint.    going to put the high flow back on but just need a tuner to help me and mine is out of town for the next two months or more.  Just worried about the ignition timing.
