hahahaha, thanks guys. was looking at a GTST with a 25/30 in it but i had a chat with my mates and would rather put 5k into a stock rb20. 240rwkw sound alright to me for a daily driver....

People often comment on the poor performance of the RB20, mostly its lack of torque. BUT, consider the R32 has less weight, shorter gearing also helps mask any lack of row rpm torque. Also the lack of stump pulling torque helps traction onto boost, where you can still make big hp through the mid range and up top.

LOL, though i am a scratched record...some copy and pastes from other posts...

And my parting comment will be have a look at this....

STD RB20 with a turbo and ECU upgrade

Compared to a std turbo RB26 with Poncams, and same dyno and same tuner

As you would expect the Rb26 spanks the RB20 down low, but in the rev range that you use at the track the RB20 punches well above its weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And...

Here is an R34 GTT on the same dyno, same tuner with Poncams and GCG high Flow, and then a very similar car out of NSW (though it had different tuner and dyno)

So, dont discount the performance of an intelligently modded RB20, all with std internals.

Sure there are better engines around, though for the money??? Well the only cars quicker then me at the track are 330-360rwkws well modified GTRs. My little std RB20 with a turbo upgrade manages to go quicker then all the SR20s and RB25s etc, some built, some with just turbos, even many of the lesser modified GTRs makign under 300kws. So if the RB20 was that far behind in performance then this would not be possible. Spend the money on getting some more poke out of the RB20 and what money you can on suspension, clutch and brakes to ensure that the all round performance of the car makes it a quick package :P
