Why Im Not Looking Forward To A Aussie Release Of The R35

Recommended Posts

think they rule the road over all the other "import" skylines.

Well, stock for stock (or even if the older Skylines have light mods) they will. Its newer, its faster, its more stable, its better built. In a nutshell, its better in every way.

Is your problem that you don't like dealing with progress?

Did you feel the same way about R34 Z-Tune owners? Did you think "oh, I don't want Powerplay to bring the Z-Tune in because they'll think they're better than me in my R33 GTS-t, just because their car has AWD and a better engine and a better chassis and better suspension and better brakes and better aero....."?

:P

Lol If Nissan didnt bring out new models, or any manufacturer fo that matter we'd still be stuck with the 'T' Model Ford...

Granted there will be plenty of knob's fitting 24" x 5" wide spinners from tempe and every second pimple faced teenager will be masturbating over their "hot 4's GTR special" magazine, but should this mean we should stop looking forward to the new GTR being released in Australia?? I dont think so... Nissan deserves all the credit they get... The new GTR is a masterpiece and we have only just begun to see what it will be capable of.

That isnt my point at all, IM talking about the guys that are going to buy the R35 GTR because its a GTR not because they are enthusiests (spelling) like the majority on this forum. Ive already had an arguement with someone about them getting the new GTR because its a GTR and they want to be better then the rest of us with r32,33,34's. That is what im getting at. If someone from SAU or someone that brought the GTR for a reason other then "its a gtr" then id be fine with it. If you know what i mean.

Majority is right, because even on here there are quite a few "tourists".

I've lost count of the number of threads on here about people saying they bought their Skyline because of how it looks and couldn't care less how it goes, which is why they want to do things to make their sports car perform worse. Which means they just want to be seen in a Skyline, rather than because they plan on enjoying the car for the very reason it earned its desirability.

So, basically, you'll get that with every vehicle. How many butchered "sex spec" R32, R33 and R34 Skylines have you seen at car shows sporting retina-searing paint and gauche interiors? How many grey import Skylines are doing laps of the entertainment district on a Friday and Saturday night, whose drivers haven't been anywhere near a winding road let alone a track?

one day you'll be a fat old bastard, and you'll want a fast car... what's wrong with that? i was unaware there was an age limit to having a nice car... you gotta spend heaps of money to get out of the group that have r33 skylines and think THEY are the shit.

HEY! R33s ARE the shit. :P

When it's on Aussie roads you can forget the 34 GTR having blow factor like it does now. On cruises and track days its gonna have the aura of a Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo. It's gonna take a hard 34 GTR (over 50K of mods and some gorgeous styling) to be as fast and alluring to enthusiasts as R35.

And YES lots of old farts and drug barons will own this car BUT bear in mind that true enthusiasts will likely garage them up half the week, some with a fair amount of security, and us bastards driving our "old" skylines will still rule the road the rest of the time.

R35 is up in the class of exotic performance cars...and how often do you see 911's and F430's and Gallardo's? Not everyday, and only really in more affluent parts of town, but you pay attention when you do.

Don't fuss about who's driving them, like some of the boys have said the R35 buyers will likely be enthusiasts- not mid-life crisis cocks needing to enlargen their soggy testicles with a status symbol. So it'll hopefully be a scenario i experience every day when i see a Skyline/GTR enthusiast on the roads: gear down, squirt the engine a little, and then nod to each other as we turn our separate ways.

What's not to look forward to about that?

Ahh cmon everyone, its no different to the price range and target market that the 32 had 20 years ago. THe difference is in those years the Oz general public are no longer a pack of arseholes and understand 4wd turbo cars :P

Ive been thinking alot about the new R35 and how much of an awesome car it is. Something that ive been wondering is how many fat bald middle aged men are going to buy them and think they rule the road over all the other "import" skylines.

those fat bald middle age men are going to make the r35 more affordable for all of us in years to come.

Saw a vid thats on the net. They tested a customers car a couple of times to do some tests.

0-60 3.3 secs

quarter in 11.3 secs

From factory!!!

I'm not even going to go into the handling and braking!

Yeh i saw that too. It's pretty nuts considering the hardware its got. Lots of other cars with hardware to match can't even make those times :P

r35's are never really going to become affordable because of the limited production of the model. I think they'll still be pulling 50k in 10 years time if there's not another gt-r after the r35.

Limited edition models (like V-Specs or something even rarer i.e. a Nismo version like the 400R/Z-Tune) will probably hold their value strongly, and in some cases even increase! Look at other high performance cars *Enzo*, they're not even race cars, they're collector's items and this might as bloody well come from the Nissan factory with a big carbon-fibre friggin' frame

Oh f**k i want one

If they're smart enough to buy one then kudos to them.

As for ruling us just think of how many exotics will be cowering at the sight of them.
