look at the bottom pic does that say skyline on the back ha ha

Yep :-)

The pics they've attached are from ages ago, but the article is quite good in that it backs up what others are saying and that is that, bringing one in aint as easy as what people may think.

Yes by the time we will be able to import them the market price will be around 6mill the depreciation is huge on new cars in Japan, so another reason to wait.

I don't think they will be 6 million within 18 months especially with a 4 to 6 month wait for a new one and they are selling at the Auctions at 9.5 to 11.5 FOB, it will be a few years before that happens.

If 7.7 for a new one who would pay 6 for a 2 year old one.

i guess the facts are there are 6 or seven in aus now one driving around in canberra regersterd people will and have paid the money to get em in

No, there is not one registered in Canberra, there is absolutely no way to legally road register an R35 GTR at this time.

Don't mistake a trade/dealer plate, for a normal registration plate.

I worked for one of Japans largest used car exporters for 2 year going to auction 4 times a week so I have seen my fare share of depreciation from new to second hand cars. It all depends on the popularity and market conditions domestically in Japan but I have definitely seen cars devalue more than 20% within the first 12 months.

must be. there is n way it can be registered. The just jap one will be the first one with rego and that is at least weeks away - even then it is only conditional rego. Full road rego is at least 12 months away (personal import), unless someone can actually get SEVS before then

The perth one has been cruising around my mates have seen it out and about.

I dont know what all the hype is about the grey imports - its a great car, but its not something thats going to be super rare or hard to get - but If I was genuinely interested and comfortably had the money to afford the Vehicle I would buy a Legitimate one from Nissan.

As people have mentioned, its a new car and new cars have problems - especially in a car that relys on so many electronics to run it. Its not like your Basic 15 year old Skylines/Silvias that most mechanics know how to work on. When Nissan sell them here, they will train there mechanics and provide them with the right diagnostic software etc for the vehicles - with your grey import, you may get one a couple of months before the Oz delievered vehicle but if something goes wrong with it - its your loss!! 100+k is a big investment in something thats not secure.

In 5-6 years the hype will die down and the Vehicles will probably be around the 45-60 thousand dollar mark.

yeah the FABCAR one has been cruising around on it's FABCAR "dealer plates"

it was imported as race rally for targa west etc

it was even at a track night @ barbagello raceway on 31/1 but it did not hit the track:(

Hmmm, an R35 as cheap as $45,000 by 2013? Approx. 70% depreciation, equating to roughly $21,000 a year?

That's impossible for anything other than a damaged example.

70% in 5 years is pretty typical depreciation.

Totally agree, 50% in 3 years is normal in Japan especially as the first 3 years Shaken has expired then so 70% in 5-6 years is well within the realms of possibility.

70% in 5 years is pretty typical depreciation.

GT-Rs aren't typical cars.

For reference, check the list price on an R34 GT-R back in 1999 and what they're still fetching at auction today, 9 years later. I doubt you'll see a $45K R35 GT-R inside 15 years, if ever, or unless fuel hits $5 a litre suddenly :D

The major difference with R35's will be, as they will be sold new by Nissan australia, lots of them will be leased as part of a salary package or for 'business' use, and the depreciation will be written of against tax according to the maximum allowable in the ATO tax tables. This pretty much guarantees the prices will drop fairly rapidly in the first 3-5 years.

    • I picked up my block and head last week and have been slowly assembling it since then. Pictures I took earlier this week. The rest of the auxiliaries are on now. I just have my intake manifold runners to tap for my WMI direct port setup before putting it back on. I should hopefully have the motor back in by this weekend.
    • I couldn't agree more. As an owner of a built high HP skyline, I'd be a hypocrite to not buy a Hummer for the reasons you listed though haha.
    • Hahaha oh shit! Again!
    • Is this the one? https://jpjdm.com/shop/index.php?id_product=2192&rewrite=nissan-stagea-c34-rear-boot-actuator-assembly-90550-0v000 Might be worth having a look at yahoo japan as well. Though it seems a bit odd. If the motor works itself, other than being noisy, then wouldn't it be more likely that it's an electrical issue somewhere else? And it being noisy does not seem as surprising if it has been chugging away for months
    • I know this thread is quite old, but I found it, it helped me, but I also wanted to add my experience and troubleshooting finds to the chat for others. I have not been able to open the rear hatch of my 97 Stagea for several months. Figured it had just really sealed itself up over the winter and I would just get to it eventually. Well that day was yesterday. Some time ago, I noticed my battery was going flat all the time. It was frustrating. Then one quiet night in the garage, I could hear and ever so slight humming / grinding noise coming from the back of the car. It was like a really quiet popping sound or something like sand in a very low speed blender. I took off the panels in the back and noticed the noise coming from the auto close motor, so I unplugged it and the noise stopped. And the auto close was disabled. Well, fast forward to yesterday, I tried all the tricks with power and fuse and lock and unlock and I still could open the damn hatch. So I took off the panels from the inside and found the auto lock had engaged and was stuck in close position. When plugging and unplugging the fuse, I could hear the relay clicking. So I plugged the autoclose motor back in, and the damn thing let go. And immediately started making that grinding sound again. This time, instead of just unplugging the motor, I pulled the fuse, thus depowering the relay entirely. I don't have the autoclose feature now, but at least I can open the boot and not have my battery being sucked dead all the time. Not sure what caused the motor to latch when it was unplugged from the system, but I am pretty sure it won't cause any more problems now.  If anyone has a lead on a new motor, please let me know. It's a cool feature that I would like to get back.  Hope this helps.
