i have been doing alot of looking around on the forum about us auto guys looking for an aftermaket ecu instead of piggy back option. as everybody has found out nissan had software installed controlling ignition retard on upshifts to save the transmission from WOT and heavy torque gear changes. there are a few ecu's out there (http://www.motec.com/products/ecu/control.htm#M600) that provide ignition cut on upshifts but require a clutch pedal to activate a micro switch to signal the ecu to cut the ignition (also know as a flat shift module) from reading a few of the posts on here it seems like a few of u boys are alot more elctronicly minded than i am and should be able to find the trigger wire form the standard AUTO ecu that triggers the standard ENGINE ecu to do it's retard thingy and use this instead of a clutch opperated microswitch. now i know it wont be as perfect as the standard software due to the fact that nissan have it 3D mapped but if ur box is already shift kitted then u already have changed the shift characteristics anyway and a very quick and exactly timed ignition cut would probably at low speed make the gear changes feel a lot less jerky.

it's just an idea so dont shot me if u all think it's bl*&^y ridiculous but i had a manual car with a flat shift module that was blowing boxes all the time until it was installed. if ur thinking of the power loss of that half a second with no ignition then just think about the power gain and tunning abbility of having a complete programable ecu on board.

sorry for the long post but i needed to stop thinking about it and ask u guys what u all thought

yeah yeah i know here we go again but i have read so many posts about people trying to find out an ecu that will support some kind of ignition cut, retard during gear changes but nobody as far as i have read nobody has toyed with the idea of the manual flat shift software available in some upmarket ecu's. im expecting to get shot down for bringing this up but i new it was available and just wanted to get u guysto look into the possibility also.
