I said the car is still coming, even if I cant

Hi Guys/gals,

Would you like me to see if phatass is available to help you with numbers? Better still, when you book the day with Daniel or Glen ask them to see if Terry's car is ready. There's 1000 hp to help you all out.

This is your event, not ours and if you would like me to ask the club to assist with numbers then I'll do what I can, but I'll wait for your final decision before I go and do that.

We have an idea for a points system, if you want to include this as 1 of the 3 events to be included in the Skyline v Supra.

One of these ideas is that the vehicle must be involved in at least 2 of the 3 events to obtain full points for their team.

I'm happy to come along to assist in any way poss'. Once we've got a solid day of either the 8th or 9th, and a solid start time, can someone pm me please? I say lets get together with the Supra lads; a bit of cross pollination never hurt! The few of them I know are good fellas (good to see you on here, Nico! How's the silver beastie coming along?). I'm a sucker for ANY car that's put together well. Anyhoo, Skylines can hold their own on a dyno. Cases in point: Widebody, RH9, Phatass, and if my memory serves me well, GZ R33 and Whytry are no slouches, either. There are some awesomely strong GTS-T's out there, too. I remember a marone 33 at 350 ATW Kw from their RB25 at another dyno day that made a few sit up and take notice...

So, someone invite the Supra lads, and let's have a get together!

P.S. Please don't forget my pm on final date and time!!

I will be up for it if the supras come. Otherwise i will just wait for the track day to be my first event in the GTR.

PS, i also have to sort some things out first. (run the engine in ETC. Small things)

Hey Jayce. Supra is getting a gearbox recondition. All the shennanigans finally caught up with me. Engine-wise things are good and getting better each time. Finally have reliable fuel delivery and boost control. Next I'll be increasing the size of the rear housing on the turbo. Midrange has increased immensely with the Autronic but the turbo is running out of puff.

I bought a spare block  couldn't help myself. Taking the time to choose the right turbo. Hanging out with Daniel and Glen is bad :P But it will be a built engine and worked head.

How is your beast coming along?

Dyno day is booked for the 8th of March 10am. I just need to go in and have a chat to the guys. Will need to confirm how many r33 gtrs are taking part, as they take a while to setup. Also if other people are interested, rexes take some time, so too many of them are not too good.

At the moment happy for some supra boys to take part (btw looks like terrys car wont be ready). Looking at a max of 30 cars, don't think we'll reach that many though lol.

Cost will be 50$ + 5$ donation to sau.

No one pike! :D

If you would like me to formally invite the Supra Club, please let me know and I'll start a thread. I'll try and keep to at least 10 Supra's unless you would like me to try and get more.

Can I safely say that this is the 1st of the 3 events between Skylines v Supra? Just thinking that we should try and get some sort of a point system happening.

Cheers

Ross

Yeah if you guys want to come along thats fine, start a thread, least that should make a good day of it, and make sure that we are going to get enough cars.

I've just posted on supraforums (http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=715696#post715696)

I have made a couple of assumptions;

Location: ESP; and

This is the 1st of the 3 events that we are trying to make happen.

Please let me know if you would like anything changed.

Will you be having a BBQ at ESP? This would be a good way for you to generate some funds for your club.

Cheers

Ross

Thx for that dont really see any issues. Cost is actually 50$ + 5$ to SAU, to help us get a banner. If someone from the skyline side can organise a BBQ, I mean bring one along would be a good idea like you said. I myself don't have a good portable BBQ.

I did post up $55 for us as this will probably be the same for when we organise the drag racing event.

ESP do have a BBQ, but you might want to see if it's ok for you to use, might be an idea to suggest to the guys that you just bring a gas bottle.

Just a note to all. All money will be payed to ESP on the day, won't be passing through my hands. 5$ is an appreciated donation so to speak. Just with all this PL stuff nowadays want to cover myself. I will be going through the list later, but ALL R33 GTR's will be grouped together (if we have multiples), due to what ESP has to do to get them running on the dyno

On the dyno day note. I know my car won't be the most powerful out there. While it would be good if we win vs the supras, it's the day itself that counts.

    • Dissimilar metal corrosion. Aluminium is less noble than steel/iron, and will corrode preferentially when in contact with it and a conductive solution (ie, wet road salt). Tends to suggest that those brackets should be made in steel for a shitty climate like the UK.
    • Here is picture of the rear brackets again seeming to have eating itself or corrode or whatever. Can’t describe it , hope someone could explain this
    • No i am in the uk so maybe road salt etc but checked rear and same story where handbrake cable seems to have eaten part of the bracket. Have emailed alpha omega waiting for reply
    • I've not looked at a GTR without the booster there. Is the hole and mount on the firewall not just the same as GTSt? I would have expected it to be. Nissan don't change panel stampings if they don't have to, and you'd think they'd just order/design the booster to mount to the same place.
    • They have all sorts of "failure" modes. When they are brand new, the can either be very very tight, or reasonably mobile. If they are reasonably mobile, you'll probably have a good start. If they are very tight, then they can catch/grab at every little motion, and they mark the ball or the outer race, tearing off whatever teflon lining is in the outer race, then they can rapidly degenerate from there. If they get wet, they can just rust. They are just steel and will turn red pretty quickly. Water can get in behind them and sit and cause them to become crunchy and then proceed to tear themselves up, as above. Same with grit and dirt. Manufacturers and OEMs of the arms that use them will tell you that because they are teflon lined (well, the good ones, anyway), you shouldn't grease them. If you do grease them, then the grease will catch any passing grit and dirt and hold it in place where it can cause damage. Race teams that have them will lubricate them thoroughly. They will also inspect them every 5 minutes and replace them every 10 minutes, if need be. Some manufacturers of arms will provide dust boots. These can help, but they are seldom perfect, and sometime just make the situation worse, being a place where crap can collect. I have made nappies for some of mine with PVC sheet and race tape, to try to minimise the access of crap. When they wear, you can get a tiny tiny amount of movement between the ball and the outer race. This will make clicking noises. It will also make the arm have "slop" in that the tiny amount of movement available at the inner end of an arm can cause a lot of movement out at the outer end. 0.05mm at 5mm from the pivot becomes 4mm 400mm away from the pivot. If they are too tight and binding, they impede the proper motion of the suspension arm and put loads into it and the rest of the suspension that are not supposed to be there, and can cause failure. Think broken welds, broken threaded sections on the adjustable parts, mounts ripped off the chassis, etc. All of these are possible, which is the main reason why they are essentially illegal on the road in Australia.
