G'Day all.

Just thought I'd share the news :D

Reached 200rwkw on 10psi and 230 on 15! My bleed valves not coping though, boost curve was all over the joint so ended up having it remapped and tuned on 10psi for now until I get an EBC.

All I can say is that these cars REALLY come to life at 200kw, and with 230kw at the treads you really do have PLENTY of power to put to use. But never enough, as I'm saving for the new turbz and hoping to hit that sexc 300 figure! Ahhh where do you stop?!? I got the car a year ago today, and planned for an exhaust and thats it. Amazing how things change....

I now have -

Blistien shocks front & rear

Pedders springs front & rear.

5-puk button clutch

Hi-flow standard turbo

Bocsh 044 external (or is it 040? im tired... whicheva the external is)

Surge tank (DIY, im a welder)

Rb20det ECU remapped

Splitfires

FMIC

3" Turbo back (very high flowin, infact all that can restrict the flow is the cannon lol :) )

Stainless intake pipe (DIY, im a welder)

Im sure theres more, its hard to keep track, and compared to some ppl I havent done that much! haha.

Theres other things like clear blinkers, knock off white nismo dials, aftermarket pads and new rotors, resprayed interior silver. Now to get myself down to auto perfection for that tint to finalize it  Also in search of a 400R front bumper and gtr wing...

Not a bad car for a learner lolz, love the looks I get cruising with mum with L plates up.

Thanks for all the help n support over the last 18 months (only been registered about 12 months, but still browsed the site heavily). My car wouldn't be where it is today without SAU so yeah, CHEERS!!!!

:(:D:banana: oh man im happy. lol. :D:D Im considering framing my dyno sheet, im proud  Worked f*ckin hard with 2 jobs, one my apprenticeship, the last year to afford, maintain and modify my lil blue beast. Ahh the passion......

Well to be honest its gonna be tuned to more of a 280kw figure just so theres a bit less stress on standard internals. The turbo is around $2200 and will be made custom by Adelaide Turbo Works in the form of a bolt on. So I'll be looking at $2200, $200 for re-tune and I would imagine Z32 afm or something ~ $300. So around $2700 for my next round of modz.

lucky boy. im getting mine back in a few days and should be pushing around 210rwkw!

should be interesting as it was "only" 177rwkw before that hehe.

i am very surprised you drive such a car on your ls, and will progress to ps? dunno how it works in SA. all i know is theres no way in buggery you could drive that car on your ps in nsw...

210 will be nice!

Yeah you have to pass a practical to get your P's. And it is legal for me to own/drive this car in SA.

I'm battling with that thing called law to actually obtain P's though lol. Hopefully this time I'll get them in 5 weeks. (got disqualified last time lol)

Cheers, Jack

cmon make it a bit harder

Give Way Questions

Well done! You got all 8 questions correct.

You would have passed this section of the learner's test and been able to continue on with the multiple choice questions.

I just got a 223rwkw tune by Martin Donnon. Its a little hard to get traction around that mark with real wheel drive.. 280 would be insane :)

youre not wrong. i drove a 300rwkw gtst, and it was ridiculous. fishtailed in 3rd, quite dangerous really.

and it had 255 rubber, same as mine, which isnt too shabby. imagine that damn 422kw maloo ute in motor? magazine. (there was a thread about its stupidity)

it all comes down to suspension...

my 32 with RB25 + 3071r making 265 rwkw will not wheel spin 1st 2nd or 3rd on the street on WOT applications... it just grips and HAULS, feels like a low 12 maybe high 11 second car!

the minute you slap a gear or kick the clutch it just LIGHTS the tyres. plus its a drift car and its set up to grip pretty well!

Wtf happened to the post that told me to try the give ways lol. Anyway, I've never had issues obtaining the learners permit. lol. It's funny, I have a cams licence and no real one!

who and how much did your remap cost? was it the speedlab?

$600ish and yea Jeff did it.

I agree 100% lol. And im running on 245 bridgestones!

what's next? 250 then 300atw?

Dunno if that was for me, but my next dyno printout will be whateva happens with an EBC (hopefully at least 240kw) and then after that it will be between 280 and 300, will just get it tuned so the power output is between there to help the standard internals a bit. I might get cams when I get the new turbo as well? Will see on the budget....

Thanks all, Jack

    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though
