Hi everyone,

I'm trying to remove my double DIN dash surround in order to get to the back of my head unit to check the connections.

I've already removed the shifter surround + the 2 screws on the dash surround (located where the 2 surrounds meet), but that's as far as I got :-(

I've been looking at I don't know how many sites tonight looking for the answer but haven't come up with a decent guide to doing it, + I don't want to force the surround + end up breaking it. I'm sure there's some other screws somewhere that I'm missing...

Could somewhere guide me in the right direction in how to get the dash surround out, or if there's a way just to pull the head unit out that would be sweet!

Thanks!! :-)

it is. basically the ENTIRE lower dash has to come out. there is a screw in the top as well (where clock and A/C stuff is.)

whats wrong with it and what version (bose?) is it?

Thanks Waz - I'll get onto that :-)

Chris, I've got an aftermarket double DIN with a motorised face. The motorised face has stopped working so I have to rip the whole unit out + send it back for replacement :-(

The guide for the US G35 Metra dash kit (p/n 99-7604) is pretty good:

Click the 'Product Instructions' link, or direct link here:

That's the guide I followed to install a 2 din unit in my (non-Bose) 250GT...

Fair amount of dash-disassembly required, took me about 2 hours! Hardest part is getting the clock/ac display surround on the upper dash out...

follow what I said basically and it will come out. I have the entire exercise down to 10 min but there is a LOT to pull apart.

It shouldnt be that hard i guess.. i know sum1 who did a similar thing and snaped some bits n pieces

just take it easy lol :)

compared to my old r32 its about three times more annoying/time consuming.I could have my md head unit out in 4 -5 minutes but the v35 takes at least 15

its way easier than the guys in the usa makes it out to be though...: )

Thanks for all the replies :-)

I was reading the guide that Ant linked to + saw that it may be possible to access the trim plates to remove the screws holding the head unit in after removing the dash surround side panels (where the accessory plug is located). A possibility instead of ripping the whole dash out??

Hi

Have a look at this link. It shows how to pull apart the dash of a G35 to install an Ipod. It may give you some clues.
