The cooling area of my R32 GTS-T has gone to bits.

1) When i run my car no water leaks it goes normal...when i park it and switch it off and say after 15 mins of cooling down, water begins to trickle from te centre of teh bay, so its more than obvious its the pump right?

2) The collant tank is the first to drain out, then say after a day or 2 the radiator begins to drain.

What the hell is going on man? And the water that i refill turns to smudge like brown and orange, i think there might be a blockage thus causing the discolour?

Help us out here fellas it would be much apreciated.

Thanks.

You could do a radiator/coolent flush, then do a pressure test on the radiator to make sure its not leaking, then check the hosing/pipes, make sure they are secured down with hose clamps.

I have not seen brown/orange colour coolent b4, Red (usualy for Toyotas) and the rest is Green. I use Techteloy 100.

you mean it like leaves a puddle under the car like its coming from the centre of the bay? could be a pin prick hole in one of your hoses, i had a similar thing. would only leak once the car was warmed up, building enough pressure to make the coolent seep outta the tiny hole. was one of the heater hoses located under the plenum.

yours could be the same, maybe only the hole is smaller then mine was and needing more pressure to make it leak? turn the car off, the coolent sits in the still hot engine block with no circulation, boils that little bit more making the extra bit of pressure, leaks, then cools down sucking coolent back in from your overflow bottle/coolent tank and youre none the wiser..

just a thought anyway.. :S

i could run my car without the radiator cap screwed on tightly, allowing no pressure to build up and it wouldnt leak the coolent out the small hole. not recommened for driving but only just a test on the spot. maybe you could do something similar?

shaun.

if you dont maintain the coolant it eventually turns light green then can get fowled and get sludge in it and brown a bit.its important to flush that radiator if its dirty and replace new coolant mix.leak might be just a hose etc or a join.so gotta get there an see where water is going from, new pump will mean replacing it.better sort it sooner than later.

I had the same deal on my 31...

It seems like its coming from water pump???? i put some seal up in it just till engine is done. It worked well.

But i only did that cuz i'm building a engine and dont want 2 waste time on a sh!tty rb20, it would be the water pump gasket, or actual pump itself.

So if your keeping the engine, inspect and replace, when your there have a look at the shape its in "corroded or scummy" run a good system flush and have the radiator done aswell, cuz there is no point flushing your system and leave the rad alone.

Wow, you've got a chicken in your cooling system?

The easiest way to check for a hose failure is to get the car warm & with a pair of gloves on squeeze each of the hoses in turn to see if they do in fact leak under pressure.

Or, if you are Welsh, leek under pressure.

Thanks for the info guys, very helpful. I think it needs a good flush because the water looks like its mud. I have noticed the ehating going up now aswell.

Another 2 questions.

1. My brother in law told me not to put just any coolant in there ,that i should read the manufactures manual and see what its compatible with. He told me that the brown sludge is not the coolant but the corosion the coolant is causing, and that anit freeze adnti boil stuff you can buy from K-Mart is hazardous to the car. Anyone back this up? And if so, what coolant do you reccomend. He told me to put Toyotas Coolant Inhibitator that you can buy from Repco.

2. Anyone can direct me to a website that shows step by step how to flush my system? Pictures would be helpful.

Thanks guys.
