OK I've been looking for some decent track rims and these are the best price/performance I can currently find for under $2000

How would you think they would look on my Silver R33 GTR?

Yes Mick, I'll put FEDERAL 595 RS's on them (unless you can get the r's for me)

I'm with TiTAN. Go the larger, fancier rims for around town and keep the stockies for track work. That is unless you plan on getting some really monster brakes and will need the larger wheels all the time?

If that's the case then you will have no futher need for your stockies and i'll be the first to put my hand up for them...

I want to go with the larger rims with more expensive tyres for track work then cheaper tyres for daily driving (something I do a lot more of). Besides anyone can see the amount of stress I put on the 17" tyres around the track so I'm very keen on getting better performing tyres and 18"s are the best for the track currently.

I think they'll look nice but with more dish. Colour....?? On silver cars, I like silver, gold, bronze and maybe white but white would depend on the wheels. Never been a big fan of black wheels, always thought you kind of rip your self off cos black hides the wheels so it doesn't really matter what style they are, where as lighter colours highlight them more......did that make sense? Having said that, I have seen some nice ones with polished rims but they tend to be for show only, ie: big and heavy. Just my 2cents.

Ps: The ones on the Beema look hot as but they look like they're at least 19s.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I've got to check out Towlie's wheels but unless they are something special I'm going with the SSR's

Leech yes I have a Silver GTR, but black wheels, na.. the lady in charge of "bling" wanted back wheels until I showed her black wheels on silver cars, I'm now excluded from looking at black wheels.

JD-33 spot on mate.

Mang have you looked at the price of those wheels... I could not afford 2 of the for the price I'm getting all 4 of the SSR's

Tarmac, you make perfect sense :D

The reason for the 18"'s as explained is I have worn the side walls off the 17" 585SS Federals doing a training day at the track, so I need good tyres with less sidewll flex for a real track day. Yes I'm still keen on running a track day, but I've been slowed with supplier issues.

    • I buy my wheel cleaner in 4 litre bottles now. Euro brakes are brutal
    • Sounds like it may all just be some baseless outrage stoked by the carexplore guy? As in the linked social media outrage on facebook just goes back to carexplore as a source again. Further shown by the council response that nothing actually has changed: "The Private Land Use Permit has been part of the Casey Community Local Law for a number of years. It's important to clarify that this permit is not new, and no changes have been made to the permit or the Local Law in relation to the permit." The full council response in Prank's link sounds reasonable to me. Saying that as someone who neither lives there nor has a front yard to call their own
    • Clutch hydraulics are also all good, looks like a brand new slave cylinder and everything bled up well. No idea what the actual clutch is, and I don't intend to pull the box off on the floor to find out, so unless we have trouble on the dyno or at shakedown that will remain a mystery for the new owner
    • Front brakes are G4 8 pot calipers over 330mm discs with braided lines. Everything looks good, pretty sure these are off my old 350. Pads are brand new and judging from gold colour are Winmax which is what I also run on my race car, Neil and I both sourced brake stuff from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney who really knows his stuff Everything has bled up nicely with all new Motul RBF600 fluid, there were 2 loose hard line connections and the calipers were new on the car so I ended up doing it 3 times but it is perfect now
    • So, starting with the rear brakes. They look like standard R33 GTST, and will need new pads shortly (less than 5mm material, probably only 1 day left). The slotted discs (probably DBA) are near new at 18.01mm and the lines are braided
